DPL v Accrington Stanley

It isn’t too easy to find out a great deal about our weekend opponents. They have let 5 players go, one for £300k to MK Dons and another for an unknown fee to Gillingham. 3 others were released and all 5 signed as replacements were free.

The manager is the experienced John Dolan who replaced the well-known John Coleman who I seem to remember fell out with their owner who I believe became unhappy with the club he had bought.

I think most of us regard Stanley as overachieving just by standing still and when they have been successful it has never been predictable in advance because they can never look portentous.

Based on what has gone before, it would be foolish to predict a comfortable win, so quite apart from my opinions being practically valueless anyway, we really have no useful yardstick to asses strength or make comparisons.

If we base our predictions on the hopes we have in the quality we believe has been recruited and the opinions of those who have seen the new players in action, we would expect a win. This assumes that the visitors will not be better than how they finished last season, but the talk and first impressions of biased fans is very confident.

Rovers have not had good starts recently despite great expectations at the start of almost every season.

It will be fascinating to see how the newcomers perform, but I’m bracing myself for the possibility of disappointment. Nevertheless, l’ll say a 2-1 win (Ironside).

I think Rovers preparations for the new season couldn't really have been better. I've an Inkling our defence might be fragile to start with but we've got lots of scoring potential. I'll go 3-1 win. Hurst, Molyneux

I wonder if the new West Ham loanee will figure.

Like at the start of any new season, "Who knows". I think we will win and will go with 3-1 with Molyneaux getting the first.
I have not signed up for Rovers+ as I cannot get any answer out of Rovers' Media. This was my second message to them about the new service:
"The Doncaster Free Press says Sky will have live broadcasts of 13 games before end of the year (9 League, The EFL Cup at Salford, and three EFL Trophy games). Does this mean none of these will be available for live streaming for international fans? Do we know which games these are?
If this is so, an annual pass (25+% increase over last season's iFollow annual cost in the USA) does not seem worth buying. If I knew which games that will be blacked out, I could take decisions on buying monthly passes."
Tomorrow I'll be watching the USA Women's team in the Olympic final which starts 1 hour after the Rovers' game starts. I'd gone off the team, but since the ex-Chelsea manager took over, she seems to have improved them. Also Portland Thorns' Sophia Smith is one of the stars (scored the goal in the semi-final, and really should have at least one more!)

Yep, difficult to predict. I'll go for a win with Ironside scoring the first.

I needed to contact Liam Hoden (by email) to register and sign up for the UK version of the new service. So he ought to be able to sort out any problems Micky.

I was unable to be around to listen to the commentary today, so all I know is from reports. It looked rather stagnant for most of the first half based on the stats, but it obviously get better - quite a lot better.

I originally directly asked Liam some questions and he immediately replied (this was a few weeks ago). My recent questions have been to the Rovers+ email address at Club Doncaster. I'll resend what I sent directly to Liam.
The game seems to one of two halves as you said.

Why did Billy score? I'd have got bonus points if he had not! 🤭

Liam has replied and said all games will be available live to overseas fans. I'll sign-up and find out!
I think the USA lasses were a little lucky against Brasil - but if you do not take golden chances, you cannot win. Brasil must have some coaching staff from earlier Rovers teams! LOL!
