Which is way more insulting a comment than I intended!
Sol is a pretty poor football manager and hasn't succeeded anywhere despite being given a number of opportunities. But in his own deluded mind this is because of racism rather than because he's just not a good football manager.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A number of opportunities?
Took over Macclesfield when bottom of League 2 and in financial turmoil and kept then up. Wasn't paid so left.
Took over Southend who were adrift at the bottom and in financial difficulty. Season ended by Covid and Campbell left.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure how many opportunities he's had but he clearly isn't a good decision maker.
Didn't he also pick Notts County as a player and walked out after a few weeks due to money issues?
I am surprised he got offered any managerial jobs considering the stain on his character and the constant rubbish he spouts.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Was hardly Campbell's fault the Notts County move didn't work out. They brought in Sven Goran Erikssen as director of football and told him to get to work recruiting top players willing to drop down, which he sold to Campbell. He was offered a five year contract on £40k per week, which for a player of his age was a no brainer. However he actually requested the termination of this contract after only one game when it became evident the owners weren't going to do what they sold to Sven and subsequently Sol.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not really a one off bad decision though is it, seems like he had been getting bad advice through out his career.
As I say I can’t believe anyone would offer him work as a manager.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You Can't believe anyone would offer him work, then accuse him of making bad decisions regarding offers for work that he has received - that's a contradiction in terms. All managers have to start somewhere and you usually aren't going to luck into Arne Slots situation.

I'm surprised that Spurs haven't given him a statue outside white hart lane for services to the club.

The odd thing about this post is that even Arsenal fans don't generally think too much of Sol.
Talented and a unit but could be clumsy and wouldn't be as highly rated in today's playing out from the back age of defender.
Walked out at half time v West Ham at Highbury as he had a mental breakdown and left the stadium (allegedly) and, as Spurs fan say, strangely doesn't understand why he isn't welcomed with open arms at WHL. I mean i understand for his career and medals etc why he left Spurs but it was all very underhanded the way he left. Spurs didn't get a fee and strengthened their hated rivals.
But to then go on about why Spurs fans were so nasty to him and that it wasn't deserved is naive in the extreme. It's a tribal sport and Spurs fans would not be alone in hating an old player who leaves for a rival (Ashley Cole for example).
Sol has an ego bigger than his talent and seems to think that being black and playing for your country automatically entitles you to some sort of official recognition from the Government. Sorry Sol it doesn't. Stop whinging, do more for charity and your community and perhaps you will then be noticed as being a very good footballer doesn't mean that you are more worthy than other people who do great work (NHS, charities, community leaders etc)

Spot on Dan
I get why he moved to Arsenal who were the best or second best side around in that era whereas we were 10th at best. That makes sense. But how could he have not known at the time that the move would make him unpopular at Spurs? He would have to have an incredibly low IQ to not understand it. So for me, I just find it incredibly weird when he moans about not being accepted at Spurs - how is he not getting this.
Has he been discriminated against in terms of managers jobs for being black - possibly, I wouldn’t be shocked, he wouldn’t be the first black man that has been overlooked for managerial posts and probably won’t be the last - as sad as that is.
As for a knighthood though - for what? Being a defender in a great Arsenal team that won the league? Some charity work? Yes overs have got it for less but his case in terms of that is hardly the most worthy out there - bloke needs some humility.
I genuinely believe though that he is just a massive weirdo

You can see why he doesn't get jobs. Similar to another good Arsenal defender, Tony Adams. Both come across as either mad or deluded.
If I owned a Football club, Campbell would not be on my shortlist, not because of skin colour but because of his weird personality and possible chip on his shoulder.

surely strictly would have taken him?

Yeah you wouldn’t touch him with a barge pole. Racial discrimination claim waiting to happen.

Someone brought it up a few days ago & it got me thinking, nobody really considers Sol Campbell among the great Premier League CB's when there's no reason why he couldn't at least be in the conversation? He's always overlooked by other guys - Terry, Ferdinand, Vidic, Carvalho, Carragher, even someone like Ledley King frequently gets mentioned before him.
Ironic considering the "please talk about me" vibes he gives off, but something about him is totally forgettable
