I didnt say that. Recently hes looked the most likely. Which he has. He needs to play while hes on it.

fair enough. I am maybe biased against Rashford - I dont think he is a particularly good footballer and he appears to have an attitude problem which may or may not rub off on others. Lazy as well. Not sure he likes eth either because of his expections

Also, I keep hearing about how we're going to miss McTominay's goals as if he was scoring week in week out. Last season he scored 7 league goals, by far the most he's ever scored in a season. Yes he did get the odd important goals but it is being massively overblown, in fact he was the joint 15th highest scoring midfielder in the PL last season along side players such as Soucek and Doucoure.

United and Erik would die for a cm player to score 7 goals this season

you should know by now that the modern united fan loves a narrative, and that it makes no difference at all whether that narrative is true.

i saw a united fan recently claim that selling mctominay was giving up "a guaranteed 10 goals a season", a figure which he managed precisely once in 7 seasons at the club.

Rashford is a good footballer often. But hes not a great player and we fans expect Uniteds best paid players should be. Hes one of the best of a very average bunch. Hence our mid to botom half position in the PL and Europa

RB&W

I'd prefer one who can play in midfield personally. Also Mainoo last season scored 3 league goals over half a season, McTominay averaged 3 league goals over his 6 full seasons at United.

Anyone with a bit of a common sense knows getting rid of mct was a bad idea when we have the likes of Casemiro, Eriksen and mount in the side.
The decision to get rid of Fred and mct is madness, considering our other options.

We got rid of McTominay because the club clearly lacked a proper DM which we've now got with Urgarte. Is Urgarte going to get you the goals McTominay did, no, but he can actually operate in midfield and if properly utilised can give us far better balance.

Have people forgotten how invisible McTominay was in midfield, his pressing, tackling and passing were terrible. Keeping a midfielder just because he can score a few goals (on average 5 a season in all competitions) is not something a well run club does.

I think there was a natural assumption early on that McTominay would be a DM, but it's been obvious that's not his role. Look, he's not a world class attacking midfielder either, but he's obviously got a goal in him and can do a good job against certain teams.
Whilst he won't be the biggest lost to us, it wouldn't have bothered me if he stayed.

I don't think there was ever that assumption, he was a striker as a kid wasn't he? There was this lazy assumption that he was like Fletcher (simply because they're both Scottish) but the fact is McTominay is nowhere near as good as Fletcher ever was.

While it's always nice to see a youth player make it and stay and be of use to the club I'm glad he's gone. It meant we could actually bring in a proper DM who while hasn't done anything yet should hopefully make us a far more balanced midfield.

I'm not doubting McTominay got the odd important goal for us but my point still stands that his goalscoring achievements where massively overblown.
