Rashford to Arsenal in Jan

Makes sense…

▪️Saka is out for a while (and may never be the same again with the type of injury he has)
▪️Arteta has form in buying PL players (Havertz, Zinchenko, Rice, Jesus etc)
▪️They have money to spend
▪️Rashford has a good scoring record against Arsenal and perhaps Arteta seeing him in person be so good against them has made him a fan

I reckon £25 million will be a decent deal. Wages? Maybe we’ll give him a golden handshake goodbye bonus and that will cover any drop in wages.

I think you have to be a little careful with stories and rumours about lack of professionalism from Rashford. Utd want to sell a youth product who has been relatively successful. So a bit of media character assassination suits them.

One thing I will say to prove I'm not just defending Rashford for the sake of it......if he hasn't got anything lined up then he really shouldn't be saying he was ready for a new challenge.

When I heard that I was convinced he must have something lined up and he might still have tbf. Nobody knows what's going on but him, the club and his agent.

Saudi Arabia just doesn't seem like the right fit for him. Probably would be the best move for the club though I'm sure.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
If there’s one thing the club is good at (arguably too good at), it’s accommodating players when they want to leave.

It rightfully has a very strong reputation for respecting the wishes of players when they’ve wanted out, particularly young players - something SAF felt very strongly about.

Rashford has been at the club for two decades. They won’t be trying to force him to go anywhere I shouldn’t think, and if he has a preferred and willing destination, they’ll try to make that work, I’m sure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Normally that would be true but in this instance I think the club are trying to force both him and Casemiro out because of those huge contracts they are on.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I meant they won’t be forcing him to go *anywhere in particular* if he’s set on leaving.

If his preference is, say, Dortmund, and Dortmund are interested, they’ll try to make a deal work there, rather than refusing to negotiate and pushing him towards Saudi or Arsenal to maximise the return.

Rashford would be a great signing for us if his head is in it he's a top player.

Are you sure you've thought that one through?

I don't think media assassination of an asset suits the seller who is looking to sell said asset.

If anything it would suit a buyer to drive price down.

However, this has supposedly been said by multiple Man Utd managers, coaches and former players. Although admittedly I don't have proof of that.

The latest rumour is that Rashy has turned down three offers from Saudi for up to £35m a year.

IF true, this suggest money isn't the primary motivating factor for him and he may well move for a pay cut?

No one buys footballers for their character. Its their production and how they behave in the dressing room. Remember Bendtner? Or Giroud sleeping with a underwear model the night before an early kick off the next day!

But when you sell a fan favourite it suits the selling club to turn the fanbase against the player in case they do succeed elsewhere. They did the same with Sancho but you don't hear those stories from Chelsea despite the brighter lights of London?

And I am quite sure he will not be coming to Arsenal!

Hopefully so. However, even if money isn't the main driver for him, it doesn't mean it's not a factor, and the size of pay cut could play an important role.

Rashford organised parties during lockdown and drinks alcohol on the same weekends United play matches. He’s also been sleeping around with a load of different women although supposedly being in a relationship publicly. I know all this for a fact. I would be very surprised if Arteta was willing to take on a character like that.
