The draws are a joke.

Rangers finished lower than Spurs yet their next round draw on paper looks better than ours. We could pull Sociedad or Galatasaray. Make that make sense????

Because it doesn't work of who you think is better on paper. It goes off league position.

I'm sure Madrid and City fans are both saying that the draw could have been far easier too.

Neither of those finished in the top 8 so they were always expecting a tough draw.

We finished 4th so really our next opponents should be the team who finished 20th (4th from the cut off) which would be USG. Instead we've possibly got two teams that finished 13th and 14th. There is absolutely no logic to this whatsoever.

I think it goes by the lowest ranked team in the play off. The logic being that Lazio (top) should be playing Plzen or Roma (the teams finished 15th/16th) in the last 16.

Basically if the play offs go to form with the highest ranked team in each tie going through the finishing position of both the teams facing off in the last 16 should either add up to 17 or 18. For example if Man Utd (3rd) play Galatasaray (14th) it'll add up to 17.

na, too many teams have become to used to the bigger teams getting protection in the CL. top seedings cant play top seedings, teams from same countries cant play each other etc. If anything they should just the whole hog and have the rnd of 16 draw more random, have it against any off the play off teams.

Its a cup, stop moaning that things are not being made purposefully easier for you

Oh do feck off. Anyone that's seen our route to the League Cup semis knows we've had it harder than most.

I understand the logic of this now - 13th and 14th play 20th and 21st in the play off to decide who plays the team finishing 4th. Essentially it's the same logic as I outlined above, only from 8th to 24th. It's just bad luck that two bigger teams have finished 13th and 14th.

Yeah we've been paired with the same 4 teams (AZ, Gala, Midgetland and Sociedad)

So we are guaranteed to be on opposite side of the draw and thus can only meet in a potential final.
