Antony managing to hit the target ffs

Do my eyes deceive me or did he cut in on his left foot and shoot !!!!!!!!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He did. But say what you like about Antony’s lack of quality, but his work ethic was never questioned as he was always one of the hardest working players on the pitch.

Sublime.

Baffles me how Amorim is getting such an easy ride.
Yes he's inherited some dross but Utd are way better than their results. Every time I see you play you have a different defensive lineup, different midfield or attack.
I get it's a new system but surely he has to be a bit more consistent in selection if he's looking for improvement

Yep he's getting such an easy ride.
Not continuously being questioned on every football shiw or presser at all!!

Tbh today was the game where I think he's messed up the most so far.
Made 6 changes from Thursday night and changed players throughout the spine of the team from keeper to Striker.
Mainoo had his best game of season midweek in the 10 role. What does he do? Plays him false 9.
I have massive amounts of sympathy for him for what's he's walked in on but today I lay the blame mostly at his feet. Far too much rotation.
6 changes is too much and particularly for a team that is struggling for form in the first place.

It's a fair point but let's not forget that it was also Amorim who chose to play Mainoo as a 10. That also came about with his so-called 'tinkering' which goes to show he is still trying to find out many of his players best position - and in doing so he will make mistakes alomg the way. I can understand why he tried Mainoo in the false 9 (even if it didn't work today) given the ineffectiveness of our two recognised forwards.
I'll add, the funny thing is, given the chances we had, he could try it again on a different day and we win the game 2 nil. That's what's so fcked up about us atm. I wouldn't write off him trying it again.

I was getting blasted on the match thread and other articles for telling people to "calm down ffs it's only FCSB" after our fans were jizzing themselves over how "amazing" we looked.
FCSB would probably struggle in the championship.

You weren't alone. I said that Southampton looked better when we played them and they obviously did. They should have been 3-0 up that night before we scored.
Scary thing is our players are trying too. They just aren't good enough.

Was obvious we’d continue to struggle as soon as we played another premier league team.

We have to be realistic about what we are at the moment. We’ve gone from being a club that on almost any given season would have at least half of its team in a PL XI to right now having not a single player in a PL best XI and I don’t even think we’d get a player on the bench either.
The quality of the squad is that of a mid-table team, we’ve got several very exciting young players who shouldn’t be expected to hold down a regular starting position or put in top performances every week and we’ve got absolutely glaring deficiencies in key positions and profiles irrespective of formation or style. Top it off with low confidence and a decade of poor sporting operations and none of what we’re seeing should surprise anyone.
We need a good summer of recruitment: get key positions resolved early and fully integrated through preseason. We do also need 2 or 3 more “oven ready” players to come in and make a more immediate impact alongside the younger players. Oh we need to somehow do all of that plus more with a difficult PSR position hanging over the club.

He should get 2 seasons at least. This summer will be key for him but I've seen things I like and I'm willing to be patient.
This season was always going to be very inconsistent.
