Isak for 150m pounds

I would say "No thanks"

Pay anything above say 100m for Isak will be a huge gamble. He was extremely average in Spain and I think his 1st couple of months in Newcastle wasn't spectacular either. He has done very well to gain and maintain a really hot streak this season but then it just might be a flash in the pan. For me, Isak would have to replicate this same form all of next season to deserve a price tag of 120-130m. And the magic question is, will he be able to do all again next year? Only time will tell.

I think Newcastle is seriously taking the pi$$ by asking for 150m. I am sure they don't think anyone is desperate enough to take that bait.

I would rather we spent 60-65m on another striker even if its someone who hasn't quite gotten that hot form like Isak. With the remaining 60m we can get a winger (maybe Nico Williams). Getting 2 major signings for the price for 1.

I'd honestly still keep Jorgy if he wants to stay.

People get confused on how the Law operates in this country when they compare it to how it operates in Spain. In Spain another club can activate the clause. In England the player has to activate his clause.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You have this the wrong way round. In Spain every player has a compulsory clause by law, and it is a contract between the player and the club that only the player can activate the clause.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I believe a club can go to Liga and pay the clause to release the player from his contract (assuming he wants to join). In England the player has to take that action and not a prospective club??
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nah, in Spain it is between the player and the club. Only a player can buy himself out of the contract.

Its always between between player and his club. In both countries. I wasn't actually disputing that. I was referring to the difference is the process. Essentially the buying club is depositing the money in an escrow for the player which then passes to Liga to pass to the selling club. Liga has to transfer registration. The selling club has no say if the clause is met. In England the action is all taken by the player if there is a dispute. Essentially Isak will have to take Newcastle to court to enforce whatever understanding, written or otherwise there is to force them to sell. Just like Suarez would have had to do in our case.

I am not sure that it is mandatory. I believe it's just good practise. (unless the law has changed?)

No, in Spain it is up to the player to pay the clause.

I think it used to be mandatory but thats for all employment in spain not just football players. its a clause that allows any employee a way of buying out their contract.

I dont think it works quite the same way in football, or they just apply the rules around it differently.

If we are letting Partey gi I think we should try harder to keep Jorginho. The guy is a brilliant squad player. Always available and performs well when he is required

If the Zubimendi talk is correct then we've got two players that can play the 6 with him and Rice. Id argue we need to find someone who can play the left 8. Jorginho's time at the club has run it's course. He's done ok but even now if he has to play any significant minutes you can already see he's struggling to keep up with the pace of the game.
