The funniest bit about this new rule is that after 5 seconds the ref will hold up a hand and do a second-hand motion until it drops down by his side at 8 seconds.

You just know the crowd are going to all chant the Countdown theme when he does that 🤣

That part sounds a bit ridiculous but overall this is a good rule which should be strictly enforced.

Would actually be brilliant if crowds just did counts of seconds really loudly every time some caaaant is time wasting. And yes I know we're awful for it, hate that nonsense as much as anyone.

There needs to be a "shot clock" visible, counting down the seconds and buzzer if the keeper's still holding it.

Martinez at Villa is an unashamed time waster too.

Won't apply to Chelsea we'll still just fack about with the ball in the 6 yard box & have the same inept keepers

8 seconds seems ridiculously long.

It would be interesting to know the current average for a team winning during games

Sick to death of watching teams come to OT and waste 10 minutes a half with goal kicks etc.

The 8 second rule was always there as I understand it, but like foul throws, never enforced anymore.

It would be so simple to have a stop clock instead of having a referee manage the time.

What they need is big timers in the stadiums and the end bit of the countdown tune.
