Rival Watch 49.2

Come on Weds! Great start!

The pressure is on all sides and it's very easy to look at our weaknesses while losing sight of the fact that our opponents have them too. Aside from the fact that both of them have a tougher run-in than us, we are still two points ahead of Burnley, and they have to play Sheffield United, Coventry and Bristol City. Hopefully, Ampadu will be back for the run-in as well.
Every team will suffer setbacks, but they will also celebrate victory. While history says this is a vulnerable time for us, history is not out there on the playing field, it's the players Farke puts out. Man for man, and collectively, we could not ask for a stronger team for the run-in.
Yes, we are making it hard for ourselves and Farke's victim mentality doesn't help, but we are still in a very strong position to go up in the autos.

Ok, so according to the International Taurus-Excretia Statistical Institute, it’s now officially a 3-horse race for autos.

Fair play to Shef Utd they win ugly again and that 2 point deduction they received may be what trips them up ultimately as after all this weekends results and seeing how nervy and edgy Leeds look plus Farke's head scratching game management I'm thinking Burnley if
they beat Shef Utd will finish top on 98 points with us
2nd on 96 points and Shef Utd third on 95...It could even all be settled by goal difference with all 3 sides on 96.

If Truth be told whoever gets promoted will need major surgery to their whole squad to stand any chance of finishing 17th in the EPL and if we do manage to collapse over the line in a top 2 position the reality is we are going to need a minimum of 6 or even 7 new first
team players to begin the EPL season plus strength in depth which is why Forest who brought in 20 new players managed to just survive and kick on and I feel that's the path we're going to have to take and the likes of Rothwell, Gruev, Firpo, Meslier, Joseph, Piroe, Bamford, Byram, Wober, Aaronson, Darlow, Guilavogui, are simply not going to be good enough.

Watched the last 15 minutes.

Everytime I see Sheff Utd, they seem very fortunate to be winning.

Difference is we have a keeper who concedes 1/3 shots on target and they have cooper who caught 2 crosses and made 2 good saves in last 10.

Yup… and Burnley have Trafford. Sides have more and better chances against Burnley than us.

It is quite staggering how frequently Sheffield united get largely outplayed and win. It’s part a sign of good defensive organisation and goalkeeping and part good fortune.

Sheff U, or more specifically, Chris Wilder, are doing what they (he) does well, grinding out results. Let’s not forget that if not for their points deduction, Sheff U would be 2 points clear and we’d nervously looking over our shoulder at Burnley.

Still quietly confident, but bottom line is the two that go up via Auto's will deserve it. Taking the FFP issues out of the equation, and basing it purely on the team on the pitch, Leicester and Ipswich deserved it last year and the final top two will deserve the plaudits this year - hopefully we're top of the pile come May.

I go to sleep thinking about what may happen and wake up thinking about it. Not healthy. But, if we didn't have passion, and didn't care, there'd be no point.

After beating Sunderland and Sheff Utd, no one can say we haven’t recently risen to the occasion against our main opponents - but as is apparent to all, we’re currently failing in the matches we should be winning, in contrast to Burnley and Sheff U who are winning matches they don’t necessarily deserve to. I was hoping we’d get promotion done before the final match but that’s looking increasingly unlikely. They say “Have faith in Farke.” They say “Have faith in the players.” They also say “Have faith in the process.” But I feel safer putting my faith in the knowledge that we have the easier run-in.”
