Different players, different managers but one common theme - Leeds United making things difficult for themselves in the 2nd half of a season. I know every club has bad spells and some of these seasons had issues off the pitch - Bates, Cellino etc. but it’s not normal how often we mess up.
Sheff Utd by all account and their own fans haven’t played particularly well for a lot of this season but are top. If we had played as they have, no way would we be top now.
Is it pressure of playing for Leeds? Is it other teams trying to ruin our party? Are we cursed?
2007 - loss in playoff final to a worse team
2008 - loss in playoff semi to a worse team
2009 - blew an 11 point lead at top of the league and went up 2nd on final day
2010 - finished 3 points outside playoffs with form dropping off a cliff last 10 games
2011 - challenging for playoffs first half of season, collapsed and finished 14th
2016 - 5th in table with 4 games to go. Finish 7th.
2018- top 6 up till Christmas. Finish 13th.
2019 - 2nd with 4 games to go. Finish 3rd.
2020 - promoted behind closed doors.
2022 - 14th with 10 games to go and we lose 8 and draw 2.
2023 - 2nd with 6 games to go. 15 games unbeaten and then lose 4 out of last 6 to finish 3rd.
Pressure? Cursed?

I don’t know of a team in the entire country as useless as we are in the January transfer window.
I’m almost every season we’ve got ourselves in a good position, it’s been blatantly obvious what we needed to sign in the January.
Time after time we fail to sign anybody and the wheels come off toward the finale.
It’s not the only reason, but it’s a huge factor.
Not signing a goalkeeper in January was absolutely laughable.

The way the other two are playing, we probably need to win all 7.
Let’s face it, the way we are feeling right now, and looking at that lunchtime game at Luton, we probably will be 3rd at the weekend.

Hi all👍.
Best, it’s revealing that your bad luck period starts in 2007 … I’m afraid to admit that I recall the original Revie comment which dates back to the 1960s.

We are garbage at it. Short sighted and arrogant.

Made worse by the fact the club had a decent keeper
lined up in January and Farke rejected the player.
I'm still steamed about yesterday. Slightly cooler
head. However, if the club fired Farke tomorrow
I wouldn't give a crap.

I think out last 7 games will go something like win 1, draw 3, lose 3. We could possibly finish fourth. I think the rot has set in now. A new keeper should have been brought in for starters. Will the 49ers jump ship if we fail again? Wouldn’t be surprised as they will now that from next season, we will be in a batch of about 10 times vying for a playoff place

Abso-blooody-loooootly … ‘Jan keeper failure’ is now part of DF’s legacy👍

What was the original Revie comment? At least you’ve seen some quality in your time though!
My first season actually going to games was 2006 - been miserable overall. 2 best moments - 2020 and 9th finish season after behind closed doors which does make me think we are cursed. Only good ends to seasons have been league one promotion and staying up on last day in 2022.

Yep, fair points Best👍. So, as the story goes, Romany’s were literally turfed off the ER grounds and cursed the ground/club accordingly. Revie brought in a Gypsy Queen to lift the curse because of all our bad luck coming 2nd …

Do you know who the keeper was? I’ve seen rumours he was offered someone but said no. Wouldn’t be hard to find a keeper even on loan better than Meslier.

Should have signed a 10 to compete/cover Aaronson incase of drop in form and/or fatigue - Didn't
Could have signed a CF to compete with Joseph and cover for Bamford's inevitable absence - Didn't
Could have signed/loaned in a keeper to replace/be ready to replace Meslier if his form compitulates, it has and you know what? - Didn't
You reap what you sow. Promotion is won in May, not February and we chanced it yet again.
If I was the owner, Id keep my snout out of team selection and tactics 99% of the time, that's the managers gaff, but Monday morning id be on the blower telling Farke to sort it out or pack your bags (Drop Mes, use the stacked squad at your disposal and use the allotted substations earlier when it clearly ain't working
