Spurs target August 2024

Trophy + CL qualification

Spurs target April 2025
Trophy + CL qualification

Spurs win the Europa in May, then both targets will be achieved. How good would that be. Finally a manager and team that delivered what was promised.

Ridiculous that Spurs have not once been able to start their strongest XI in any competition this season. Still cannot.

Vicario
Porro
Micky
Romero
Udogie
Bentancur
Bergvall
Maddison
Kulu
Son
Solanke

Unbelievably some of our fan base are turning their noses up at winning the Europa and CL qualification. No wonder opposition fans laugh at us.

PS Who pulled Brothers article? I am sure Admin can put us straight on that one. And more to the point why was it pulled? Could only be Brother pulling his own article. Wasn`t very factual anyway. 95 per cent incorrect.

thats been our target for about 15 years
----------------------------------------------------------------------

This year though it is a realistic target. Just a couple of ties away from winning it. In effect one of those should be a gimmee, so just a one off game to negotiate to hit the 15 year target. Best chance in all those years.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If the final (if we get there) is just a one off game, then how is this a better chance than when we were in the Champs league final? We had a better team and manager then. What's the difference now?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Because Liverpool were a much more better side than either side Spurs are likely to face if they reach the final. And did Spurs really have a better side? Trippier, Sissoko, Winks and an unfit Kane all started, plus Dele who pretty well has packed it in since then. Spurs were awful, and not surprising when you see who was in the lineup.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I do think it was a better team back then. Our current squad is capable of being better but they're not a better team this season.

Bilbao won't be easy at their own ground and you never know with United. No matter how bad they are, they just know how to win trophies.

Still, fingers crossed. It would be great to end this nightmare season on a high.

I mean.. what does Archie Gray need to do get regular game time in our shocking Midfield.... Bentancur is so overrated and the less said about Biss and Sarr the better
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Gray is good, but nowhere ready to claim a regular starting spot in midfield. I think he played one game there this season, and he was very underwhelming. Give it two or three seasons, and he may be ready.

Yeah.... Maybe, could argue he wasn't ready to play an unfamiliar role at CB for 3 months but he did it and was our best player through a difficult period.... Time will tell.... I think that kid screams future Spurs captain..... You're old enough to get this... reminds me a bit of Perryman.. Calm head, good on the ball V versatile.... just an all-round excellent footballer

Diamond I like Gray a lot, and expect him to become a top player. If he gets anywhere near Perryman levels, then he will get legendary status at Spurs.

Obviously Spurs have a great chance to make the final.... whether we can beat United or AB is another matter.

While I think we all agree that winning a trophy would be fantastic (Don't need to mention why) I think the frustration among some fans has come from the overall quality of the team not just this season but for 70% of last season (without the first 10 game/ New manager bounce we probably be looking at another bottom half finish.

You are 100% right when you say winning a cup & qualifying for the CL would represent a very good season the difference in view comes if you asked those same fans whether it could be described in the same way if we finished a position or 2 above the relegation zone with 20+ league losses in what's been a poor PL.... I suspect not.

Yes I know Spurs had had injuries but other teams with smaller squads have had just as many. Spurs fans are also guilty of bigging up the quality of players on the sidelines to be far better than they actually are...Couple of examples

1) You love to talk about the city away game... Our CBs that day were Drag & Davies.
2) Son is miles past it.He's invisible when he plays both in terms of leadership and attacking play
3) Madders has proved to be a massive flop (I dont think Ange's tactics & 433 work for him)
4) Udogie is a shadow of the player he was at the start of last season. You could argue Spence is a better LB
5) 2 of our best players this season Gray & Bergvall weren't starters at the start of the season
6) Cuti & Vic were poor & post before their injuries and there is clearly a massive issue with VDV thankfully offset by a good start from Danso

At the end of the day I hope we win the Europa but Im not gonna gotta be jumping around like a lunatic like I did in 84, 91 FA Cup, 2008 LC or when we beat Ajax to make the CL final. Its been a horrible season which can hopefully end on a bright note.

If you believe the press it sounds like Ange is done and is going regardless of the Europa... Personally, I think that's the right decision.... I don't think 6 or 7 Europa wins offsets 18 months of dross.

With a new LW, CM, a proper captain and a new tactically savvy manager I believe this Spurs squad is capable of top 6 next season.

Its time to move on.. Hopefully we can win the Pot, thank Ange for his efforts and move on

Hopefully watching Spurs can be enjoyable again

Have other sides had so many injuries as Spurs? The fact that Spurs have not once this season been able start their strongest XI once this season, tells you how bad it has been. Even now the strongest XI is not available.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Plenty of sides have just as many injuries and some with smaller sqauds of less quality than Spurs.... Bournemouth have had a shocker and you could argue Arsenal have lost far better better players than Spurs and still outperformed in higher level games.

Question for you.... what is Spurs best 11 ? Coz for a team that sits 16th in the Prem with 18 Losses I dont think much of any of them.

Cuti & Vic have been a total liability, VDV looks broken by Ange's tactics, Udogie & Madders has been crap, Son is no loss, Most people hated Drag when he played and I really don't wanna hear about Werner, Richie and Mikey Moore

Spurs best players this season have been Bergvall, Kulu, Gray, Spence, BJ, Dom & Porro (when not asked to defend) and most of them have not missed significant time... If Ange choses not to play them thats on him
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Spurs best starting XI was almost on show in Frankfurt. Where the team played very well. That team has not started very often though.

Agreed, He & Bergvall had really brights futures..... as crap as this season has been both those 2 will benefit a lot from it. Both have come through difficult moments and are stronger for it.... Hopefully this guy from Bettis that we have the option on will be the missing piece for our midfield.... A new Captain, LW, Manager and a cup win and we'll have something to build on !!!... See I'm not all doom and gloom

Sun's out, weather is warm and Im golfing this pm

The stats show that Spurs and BHA have had the most injuries this season, and by some distance.

Both in terms of players missing at least 1 game through injury (Spurs 32, BHA 36, PL average 23) and in terms of days missed through injury (Spurs 1165, BHA 1407, PL Average 800)

I would also say that our injuries have very much affected key players in key positions, with our top absentees being - Vicario, Romero, VDV, Udogie, all missing at the same time,, between 12 - 18 games.
Odobert, Richarlison missing all of the first 20 games of the season.

Spurs playing with Dragusin and Gray and Forster in for nearly 2 months is like Liverpool playing with Kelleher, Quansah and Endo at the back for 6 PL games and a bunch of cup games in between, with Tsimikas at LB. Take 2 of their strikers out for the best part of 4 months and what options do they then have, and what happens to those who are fit and have to play every minute.

That is not to excuse where we are now but it is a massive factor in how our season derailed, how we had to fire fight for months, rather than being able to look to make progress.

Article spot on as well. Spurs right on course to achieve season objectives. Doesn't matter how you achieve anything, as long as you actually do.

Could be an epic end to the season come May.
