Records pre PL aren't really acknowledged properly these days though are they?
Nobody references league appearances or goals by players scored before the PL started these days.
e.g. Everybody knows Shearer scored 260 PL goals because it gets brought up all the time. But he scored more than that when you add in his Football League goals. But they are really recognised or acknowledged.
Nobody brings up people such as Jimmy Greaves when talking about goalscoring in the top division.
Yet we lump Football League Titles in with PL titles. It's flawed.
It was a possibility earlier in the season that we could have been looking at Manchester United being relegated. That might have led to United finishing top of the Championship next season and becoming Football League Champions for an eight time, taking their overall total of League Titles to 21...
Football League Titles have been pretty much irrelevant since the inception of the PL. Recognise them and the achievement, but don't bastardise trophy counts by adding them to PL titles.

It is 2025, a quarter of a century gone. We should no longer be talking about "Premier League records" it should be "21st Century records". Shearer scoring a bunch of goals in the mid-90s isn't really relevant to modern football, Blackburns title is the same era as Leeds not the current era.
Time for the 90s nostalgia to be put away.

I'm all for winding up the Scousers but they'll be on 20today. Just like United.
We desperately need to improve if we are to be in with a chance of getting to 21 before them.

I’ve thought about congratulating them but I won’t do it. This season has been embarrassing and their title is pathetic.
Nobody will even remember it for a start. Even the Pope unfortunately passing away has overshadowed it, as has the Manchester marathon (which was today).
The worst title to win since football began.
