Will this FA do anything to help English

clubs in a final game?

We know that many a time foreign league authorities re-scheduled the games when their league side had an European commitment, whether in CL or Europa league. This is to make sure their local side has enough time in between games to recover and be fresh.

With Villa scheduled to play Spurs in PL on 18th May,we have a new possible issue with Spurs's game - providing Spurs overcome Bode and they get to the final on 21st May.

Spurs have submitted alternative dates, but Villa are not keen on moving their game vs Spurs in the PL, of 18th May

Whether the FA will sanctify any changes in fixture to help Spurs remain to be seen.

The repurcussions could be huge, in fortune and honours.

Villa are chasing a Conference place, so would like to play a Spurs reserve side, five days before a final.

Of course if it was Liverpool in the final, it would definitely get moved.

You mean like they moved the date of our FA cup match against Villa (I think) so Liverpool could play in the club world cup?

Oh that's right, they didn't, and as a result Liverpool had to play U18s and got dumped out of the FA cup.

We haven't put in a shift in a league game in 18 months so I'm not sure it really matters

It’s Villa’s last home game of the season - they have loads of pre planned activities that can’t really be moved to a Friday night.

WTF do we care anyway, it’s a chance to give Moore and other younger players a game - IF we make the final

You say that but look at the reaction to every Spurs loss. All the way back to Galatasaray when we rested loads and had loads injured and had Lankshear up front and sent off...pre match we knew it was a game we could and should rest players/blood kids...but after defeat the usual suspect where on here condemning everything about the club as usual.

It’s a bit different if we have a Europa league final 3/4 days later - people will get over a loss to Villa quickly. Additionally, with it being our second last league game they will also know they only have a week to wait until the change they want occurs

Does anyone else think that it is not helpful for some players to have such little game time in a build up.

Since our QF win vs Frankfurt, 17th April, Romero and VDV have played 45 minutes each and nothing since Monday 21st.

VDV, for example has been available for our last 11 games. He has started 5 but completed only 2 games, been an unused sub in 5 and came on for 30 minutes in another. 342 minutes in nearly 8 weeks.

Since the AZ 2nd leg, nearly 6 weeks ago, he has started 3 games, the 2 Frankfurt games and played a half vs Forest.

I get he has needed easing back in but i cannot help but think that him and Romero needed time on the pitch. vs Forest both were pretty switched off for both goals

All on Ange….way too cautious with VDV and Romero ….i get easing them back in but they have wrapped in cotton wool and like you say now are lacking match sharpness

Bloke has muddled himself up so much and lost his way

Like others have already pointed out , he has gone from declaring it’s about the long term and one trophy changes nothing to basically using every game to prepare for our Europa matches …..im surprised the media haven’t used that on him yet

This is what has disappointed me most about him, he has not stuck to his beliefs.

Our pattern of play has changed, to the extent now that the way we line up is a pretty standard high pressing front foot style, played by many teams, but we aint executing it well at all. It's far removed from AngeBall v.1 which was far more aggressive and daring, and it has not been a success.

So our "it's who we are mate" approach has been compromised.

As you point out, this putting all the eggs in one basket now smacks of 1. desperation to back up his 2nd season trophy claim and; 2. achieving Levy's top aim of the UCL promised land.

It is far removed from his long term vision and if a team is to be a success, then players really have to buy into the vision and if Ange's vision is now very short-sighted, it would not be a surprise if the players started to question the credibility of his vision. Not that he's lost the dressing room but there will be doubts and that will only lead to one thing.
