Ange at todays presser:

"It looks like Lucas' injury is significant enough to keep him out for the rest of the season. He tweaked some ligaments in his ankle so he's out.

sigh

"Mad's a bit more of a concern because it's his knee but we've sent him for a scan. We're just waiting for the outcome."

Surely it's not a coincidence that the most injury hit we've looked over any period in the PL is in the last 2 seasons, under this manager?

Of course it isn’t.

The wait for next Thursday is faaacking excruciating, the game on Sunday is a huge inconvenience and I’m faaacked off that if we do make the final then we’ve got to play faaacking United
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't mind Utd. At least it's a known quantity.

I just want us to have a fit squad...even the UCL final we had our superstar on one leg. It would be nice to have a break and feel like we can give it our best shot without having to patch a team together.

Been more hamstring a cross the premier league than ever this season, not just Spurs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Simply put, elite players are playing too many games.

There are too many PL sides, too many European games and too many meaningless international fixtures.

There would appear to be a number of factors in regard to the increase in hamstring injuries in the PL.
a) The pitches being a mixture of real grass and artificial grass do not have as much softness as wholly grass pitches, thus increasing the leverage on the upper part of the leg where the hamstrings- are.
b) VAR has meant in some instances players having to stand around waiting for decisions to be made. This means players getting cold and then starting up without the body being ready to go again. This can have an adverse effect resulting in muscle injury.
c) Because of the nature of playing a “pressing style” players have to react quickly to bursts of speed from opponents and this again puts extra pressure on muscles in the legs.

Sorry, should have mentioned that with the increased number of matches (both competitive and friendliest) combined with training this puts high levels of strain on muscles and ligaments.
In any other industry pushing employees too hard would be regulated, not in football though. It seems that more fixtures are created to make the season 12 months long🤬

The extra fixtures are a huge problem and many of the extra fixtures like the Nations League and all the international friendlies are not even popular with fans. However Spurs don't help themselves flying to Australia for an extra game only a few days after a long hard season.

Of course it isn’t.

Explain (using facts)

High Intensity and Demands:
Postecoglou's style of play is known for its high energy and physical intensity, requiring players to run more and make more demanding movements. This can increase the risk of muscle injuries, particularly hamstrings. This was especially true during his first 18 months when he was actually playing ‘Ange ball’. Not sure what he is playing now

Return from injury

Postecoglou has pushed players back into the starting XI too quickly after injuries, potentially exacerbating the problem. Both cb’s v chelsea for example

Lack of Rotation:
There have been concerns about Postecoglou not resting players enough, especially when injuries are already prevalent. Not playing spence, reggie, at the start of the season, not substituting early enough, frequently enough.

Squad size

Ange said he was happy with the squad at the start of the season, meaning g he signed off on it, even though everyone and their dog could see it was well short on numbers

—. Off the top of my head.

Definitely agree there, but it is all about increasing revenue streams, players welfare comes second unfortunately😵‍💫

Well short on numbers. Spurs have started about 50 players this season.

How many players fo you want 100, 11 playing, six on the bench, and the other 83 sitting around doing nothing.

Spurs squad is big enough. Just could not legislate for the biggest injury crisis in their history. Where almost the best back four and goalie were missing for three months .

Hopefully Bissouma has his 1 good game of the season in the final, he’s been so poor since we signed him
