'It would be unfair' - Man Utd & Tottenham 'do not deserve' Champions League football via Europa League triumph after terrible seasons.
So says Emmanuel Petit!
Despite their woeful Premier League form - Spurs languishing in 16th and United only marginally better in 14th - both sides are 90 minutes away from reaching the Europa League final. Tottenham hold a two-goal cushion heading into their second leg against Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt, while United boast a commanding 3-0 lead over Athletic Club after a sensational performance at San Mames.
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has argued that winning the Europa League would transform what has been a miserable campaign into a success story. However, Petit remains unconvinced and was quick to dismiss the notion that either United or Spurs deserves to join Europe’s elite next season through what he views as a shortcut.
While speaking to FastSlots, Petit said: "Tottenham and Manchester United both have the chance to save terrible seasons in the Europa League, but does either side deserve to play in the Champions League next season? Absolutely not. Both teams don't deserve to be among the Champions League teams for the next season. I wish the best of luck for Manchester United against Bilbao, but looking at the game against Lyon, Lyon should’ve finished United off. Spurs could spring a surprise, but I don't expect anything from Spurs or Manchester United this season. To be honest with you, if one of those clubs wins the Europa League, I think that would be unfair."

Since the start of the season?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No. But it's a different competition now
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Calum is right......that's what Petit is saying.....
and its hard to disagree.
Just watch the next Arsenal V PSG match and then the Bodo v Tottenham match.
I'll guarantee you'll see the difference gap!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes I saw the difference gap yesterday Ted. Arsenal v Bournemouth 1-2. Even Spurs didn't lose to Bournemouth at home. You really are an idiot Ted.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You are the idiot for watching the wrong game!
Watch the upcoming PSG v Arsenal match.
That's where Arsenal's heads were yesterday...don't you even know that?

If we are 'spursy', then they really are 'arsey'

Petit has always been a massive know nothing khunt with a Schitty ponytail.
The 5th placed team in the league will be in the CL next season but the Europa winner doesn’t deserve it? Faaaack off.
When Frankfurt won it a couple of years ago they played West Ham in the semis and Rangers in the final - United will have beaten Sociedad, Lyon and Bilbao to make the final - people talking shiete about the strength of the competition, it’s just anglocentric elitism again.

Not sure what Petite is on about tbh. I could make a stronger case for the team that finishes 5th not deserving it I reckon.
What I don’t like is the possibility of 6 or 7 English sides in the CL next year.
I also think the new CL format is shiiiiiiiiiiiit.
