Surely even if Newcastle qualify for Champions League, it makes no difference to Isak’s desire or availability to leave?
I don’t get the narrative that if Newcastle qualify then he becomes unavailable. It’s not like they’re going to win it. They’d merely play the group games and get knocked out so what’s the point in staying just for that.
Is he happy just to take part in the competition instead of joining a club with a greater chance of wining the actual competition and other cups.
Newcastle qualifying shouldn’t stop us perusing him or putting a bid in.

This coming from an Arsenal fan. Good grief.

Unbelievable

Is that directed at me ?
The reason I am saying this is because Arsenal have been in the champions league/European cup more times than I can count, yet only once have they ever looked like winning it, and that is when they got to the final and got screwed over by the ref against Barca, at Barca.

I'd say at the moment, we're not a huge step up from Newcastle but we're still a step up.
If he wants a move to a club that's on that higher level I'm not sure who'd be a good fit at the moment, given what he'd cost and who needs a CF.
I don't think we'll get him regardless. Not unless Newcastle are desperate to raise funds which seems doubtful.

Newcastle are a club on the up, Arsenal have stalled. I think Newcastle and Arsenal are just as likely to contend for the CL next season as I expect Newcastle to have a better summer too.

I honestly don't think Newcastle have any less of a chance of winning the CL than Arsenal.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
wot? Arsenal have been back two seasons in the CL. The first season they reached the QF. And this season they reached SF. Thats despite injuries to their main CB and all their striker.
Newcastle are a one trick pony. They counter attack really well and rely on Isak. I honestly think they would be a lower table team without Isak.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Arsenal have only once looked like they would win that competition, of the numerous other times they have been in the competitions they have always more or less just made the numbers up.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Arsenal had a different coach and were then out of the CL for 5 years while the team was rebuilt.
I don't see how Wenger's past record is relevent?

I mean players want to play at the top level, which he will be, at a club that loves him and is making clear progression.
Everyone has a price and I'm sure if we went all out we could get him but that would basically use up all our resources when we have a few areas that need to be addressed. Non starter for me.

Given that Arsenal are probably the biggest underachievers in Europe, ridiculing another team as making up the numbers seems to be lacking in self-awareness and deserves mockery.
