FFS!!
Look, as I've said, I don't dislike him personally, but I think I was a better CB in my day. If he is cover for LB, I'd be fine, but if he plays CB, then someone from recruitment needs to be sacked.
Yes he does his best for us, yes he has let us down numerous times at CB.
Thanks for the heads up OP

You said this the other day. What are these ‘numerous times’ he has let us down at CB? Do you have examples?

I imagine it's so he doesn't leave on a free this summer? If the rumours are true we have to sell so we can buy, every little helps.

Not specifics from the top of my head. But watched numerous times as his out of position play causes mayhem in central defence. Poor clearances, misread crosses to be to far under the ball
The best one, I wish I remembered the game, where he simply fell over trying to clear the ball.
Just his presence in CB causes everyone around him to compromise their performance, just the same as when you have no confidence in the GK.
Obviously this is my opinion, I know what I have seen and my conclusions from it. You obviously see football in a different way to me. I have no problem with that.

If it's Wrexham you're talking about, they are not gonna pay a fee now when they can just wait a year.

He obvs won't be your first choice at either DC or LB but clubs need players like him, know they won't start, will step up when needed and knows the club well, of course there are better players out there but what he gives for what he wants is a bonus overall probably?

Davies is a solid squad player, can come off the bench at any time and play CB, back, or even midfield.
"old reliable"!

That's the problem. Davies as with most of the squad players are simply not good enough. There is a reason Spurs lost so many Prem matches, when the squad players were asked to step up, which was most of last season, they simply were not up to it. A combination of Davies, Gray, Danso, Spence etc is not what Spurs need next season.

Exactly...too many of our fans think this is FIFA or Fantasy League where you just compile a squad for of great players.
Actually a squad needs a good balance of experience and BD is one of the few to have this. He has been at Spurs for a decade, and if you listen to some of the younger players they talk about how he has helped them settle in and cope with being thrown in to the team.
Quote from Gray:
Him, his whole family, they're incredible people, not just him. His whole family has taken me under their wing. They've really helped me this year. If he wasn't here, I probably would have struggled a little bit off the pitch, on the pitch. I can't say enough words about him. He's been here for me the whole year. I wouldn't have been able to do what I've been able to do so far this year without him.”
This is the added value someone like Davies brings and it is a key part of any successful group to have these sorts of characters and experience in the team. I think where we have a new manager coming in, this sort of character will be invaluable to the new man, even if he is only called on to play just a handful of times.
Wouldn't surprise me if he moves in to coaching at Spurs in due course.

Davies has been a great servant for the club. Okay he might be up to a starting position but is well capable of being n the bench and coming on to help out the defence. People forget it is a squad set up and different players bring different strengths to the squad. Davies has vast experience and as pointed out helping Gray to settle in and assimilate with the Spurs set up quickly and in a comfortable way.

He has… but let’s face it… he’s nowhere near good enough
