Mbeumo

Sounds like Thomas Frank wants to take him to Spurs with him.

Seemed nailed on we’d sign him this time last week but seems to have cooled a bit. Should we be concerned?

Utds 2 man midfield is a problem for Bruno. A 10 position comes at the cost of who?

As for Spurs, if we're prepared to spend this much then our target will be Eze not Mbuemo. Probably using Spurs to get get Utds offer up

How would we see more of Mainoo if we buy a CM? If we buy one that is press resistant with an engine they are likely to be taking Mainoo's position in the team.

Who's your other CM in that scenario? Ugarte / Casemiro?

I wouldn't have either of those in my starting 11. That's my point.

I did wonder if Bruno staying would impact the Mbeumo signing

regardless, it seems like he's wanting wages we probably weren't close to paying so even if he doesn't go to united it will probably be Newcastle

I'm not sure wages are an issue. We will still fork out 150+ grand a week, so not exactly to be sneezed at, and way more than what he is on.
If the fee is no more than 60 overall, I think he still comes to us.

I think both Ugarte and Casemiro are going to be picked ahead of Mainoo for different reasons. As has been explained to you in detail only a few days ago, Mainoo is lacking in key areas and also doesn't quite fit into Amorim's system. Whether we use Bruno in CM or buy a new one, both will likely be ahead of Mainoo.

The idea that buying a new CM will give Mainoo more chance of playing makes no sense at all.

Because you're assuming I'm not talking about signing a creative midfielder to play with him. I'm not.

I'd rather we signed somebody like Wharton who can do everything Ugarte can do but he's also calm on the ball too.

And you can say a 20 year old is lacking in areas all you like. If you can't see that the other CM options we have aren't lacking in multiple areas then I don't know what else I can tell you.

Ugarte didn't even get a single minute in Bilbao v Spurs. Ruben clearly a huge fan. The year they had at Sporting together was also the one year they didn't win the title. He then left for PSG and Sporting won the league again.

Casemiro is a legend and was a great player but he's not anymore. I don't think he suits a 2 man midfield. I'm hoping he's got a move to Saudi lined up. This system just doesn't suit him at all.

This was my dream summer before we had signed anyone:

--------------------------New ST

-----------------Cunha---------Bruno

New LWB-----Wharton----Kobbie------Amad

----Yoro---------De Ligt/Slab------Mazraoui

----------------------------New GK

Likes of Mount, Zirkzee, Heaven, Ugarte, Dalot, Dorgu etc would be on the bench.

Casemiro as I said I'd try to move on if possible. He's not up to playing this system at all and his wages are a joke.

Everything we know about Amorim's system is that he wants ideally both CMs to cover miles and miles of ground. Mainoo doesn't. As far as I'm aware, Wharton doesn't either. So it's quite a stretch to imagine Amorim wanting to pair those two.

(While he's not rapid, Bruno provides more intensity in running throughout the 90 minutes than anyone else among our midfield options.)

We've seen him start Eriksen in there who isn't mobile whatsoever. Casemiro isn't anything like as mobile as he once was either. He actually get run past quite easily now.

And Ugarte didn't even start in Bilbao nor did he come on for a single minute. If that's his mobile running midfielder....why didn't he use him?
