Chris Wilder??

With the imminent departure of Wilder from Sheffield United, could he be on our radar?
Personally I think we could do a lot worse,or who could we get any better,or who would really want to come.?
Whilst I think he could do a job for us,I can't help thinking that nothing will happen for a while yet, especially as van nistelroy still here.
Predict a rushed appointment in a few weeks, especially if Rudkin still at our club stealing a living.
He should be nowhere near either our club or a fax machine!!

Agree with all Nuneaton.
Think our dog do poor he could be replaced by a broken fax machine and it would still be an improvement
.if he had any respect for our club he would just resign

Morning Thorney

This is a difficult one as I think Wilder is very much in the Dyche category of "potential mangers rumoured".....
While I am sure that Wilder would set us up to " do a job" for the season ahead i am sure that it wouldn't be comfortable viewing (and I know that none of last season was comfrtable viewing) but he may just do enough with our squad plus a couple of additions to get us into the play-off lottery then who knows.
BUT then if he did take us up, is he the man to keep us there and progress the squad further in the PL? I would say no, so he would get sacked and we would be back to square one again!
I would prefer us to go and get somebody who is a younger more progressive manager and who we could see a 3-5 year plan of baby steps progression while changing the squad and starting XI and potentially locking Rudderless in a room and throwing away the key.
So do we want "higher probability of short term success but long term instability" or "short term tread water as changes are made but potential long term dividends are paid"?
To be honest, and I know that I will hear most of your eyebrows furrow at this, I would actually prefer RVN over Wilder.....

No. As much as I thought he was a good manager at Bramall Lane the first time around (I watched several matches at their ground, accompanied by a fellow I worked with), I just don’t think he’s capable of keeping a team that’s strong enough to stay amongst the ‘elite’.

He certainly produced ‘workmanlike’ teams, without any famous names as far as I can remember, and those sides he fielded were a vast improvement on the tippy-tappy elevens another Blades manager turned out around 10/12 years ago. It was, actually, a joy to attend their games when he was in charge at “The Lane”. all those years ago, Tbere was a terrific atmosphere and a great chip shop nearby-the complete package. He certainly had the full support of the fans then, but I can’t vouch for how he fared the last time around.

Chris Wilder comes across as a strong, disciplined boss but I reckon he could fall foul of the regime rather quickly if or when things turn sour, and the results don’t start coming in. That’s much the same anywhere, I suppose.

I've been thinking about the situation whilst on holiday, especially or sadly Mr Rudkin and when back im going to a certain pub in Cosby that the aforementioned frequents. Maybe wait till hes had a few then ask him whats going on. He might answer or just come out with bullish who knows.

That could be interesting Itwas. All power to your elbow.

Maybe buy him a wee dram or two to lubricate the discussion? Could be very interesting but I suspect he would be very guarded.

Evening you Foxes. Well when next Monday has come and gone, so has the current accounting period, after which I expect we can say goodbye to Van Nistelrooy. It appears Sean Dyche and Danny Rohl are among the favourites for the vacant post, but I wonder whether a better appointment might be Richie Wellens. He apparently did a stellar job at Leyton Orient. The last manager we recruited from Orient was Jimmy Bloomfield. What do you all think?

The Dyche link seems a bit tenuous, possibly based on him being mates with Rudders. It doesn't make much sense with a complete change of style too meaning the powers that be moving away from the Man City lite philosophy (although I reckon a more pragmatic approach is needed to get up - and stay up). The bookies are not usually mugs though so they must have a reason for making him favourite; although Martin was hot before he went to Scotland.

Rohl would be an interesting, albeit expensive choice. Not sure about Wellens, he did a good job in East London, but can he make the step up? At least he'd have the advantage of being an ex.

Michael Carrick seems to be gaining ground in the odds, with Liam Rosenior and David Wagner a bit further back.

I just want this unsatisfactory situation to be resolved so the club can get on with any player transfers and the squad prepare for the season.

I see it has been reported in The Sun (yes, I know) that the King Power group are in some financial difficulties in Thailand.

It was discussed at length on the RL LCFC show on the radio last night, it did not sound good at all. Worrying times, although 98 might get his wish for an ownership change as a result?
