Will Liverpool sign a striker?

With the utmost respect and compassion, I imagine Diogo Jota's passing has affected their transfer policy. I understand they were trying to sell Nunez and buy an Isak.

How have recent events changed this? Will they keep Nunez and sign a Mateta instead?

Sending love and strength to all Liverpool fans. Was just genuinely curious about how you guys feel about this and what you think may happen or what you would like to happen.

Love ❤️

Newcastle bidding for Ekitike today would be odd if Isak was 100% staying, I know they don’t have much back up with Wilson probably off but it’s an expensive back up/rotation option surely.

I imagine it's preparing for Isak to leave next season, succession planning sorta thing

Perhaps Mateta is a Jota replacement and Isak is still on the radar and Ekitike is his replacement.

Was happy going with Jota and Diaz as 9s next season with Wirtz adding new dimension but sadly that tragedy has affected us and the manager does not rate Nunez so he must go.

I'm not exactly jumping for joy if it is Mateta but he is still an improvement on Nunez.

Yes Isak...said it ages ago, he wants to.come, we want him, Newcastle will get money to help their PSR....give it time.

Prior to the window opening, Kieran Maguire was saying Newcastle can invest between 150m-200m.

130m roughly gone with the buys of Elanga and Ekitike.

They are still in the market for a CB and GK.

Trafford probably the keeper for 30m and Scalvini the most likely CB at 50m.

That's around 210m being spent.

Longstaff and Kelly sales will be 30m in. They should be fine without selling Isak but if Longstaff does go, they need a midfielder to replace him and that would need to be done pretty cheaply.

Unfortunately and devastatingly Jota’s loss is also a huge hole in our squad, he was an important impact player who provided many an important goal and we have to filll that space.

Im surprised you arent enquiring about Ekitike right now before Newcastle seal it

Following the tragic loss of Jota, even if we dont sell Nunez and Diaz(i believe one of them will go), we will go for someone. Will it be Isak? Not this summer. We will wait(like VVD) and get our man next summer.

So who?
Ekitike? No.too similar to Isak. Itd be one or the other
Rodrygo? I like this idea. Great player. Young. Can play across the front. Salahs potential successor? Expensive if we are to go for Isak next summer and sort CB
The chap from Palace? Not for me. Too old to recruit at 29
Sesko? Not ready for the Prem in my opinion

Who else?

for me needs to be young, adaptable across the front and full of potential

I would assume that if you're lining up Isak for next season it makes more sense to go for another Diaz type who can play along the line, rather than an outright CF?
