Predictor League Rules 2025/26

Predictor League is BACK baby and back with some minor tweaks to the scoring

After a year's break it was great to see a successful predictor league last year.

So, yet again it is time to put aside our differences and unite together to see who can be crowned JA Scotland Predictor Champion for season 2025/26.

Each week there will be six fixtures for the weekend ahead and on occasion there may be a cup weekend. There will be midweek cards which will count as double weeks with the weekend before or occasionally after.

Any re-arranged games will not be counted unless rearranged within that same game week..

Cup games are scores at 90 minutes.


Scoring

A correct prediction for the result of a match will gain you 10 points. If you get the margin of the score correct but not the correct score you will get 5 points. If you pick the correct outcome then you will get 3 points.

BONUS POINTS
Anyone who gets a clean sweep of results will gain a bonus of 20 points. Thus, rewarding strong weeks.

For normal game weeks, where one game is postponed the bonus points will be reduced to 10 for 5 out of 5 correct predictions. Any further postponements will remove any bonus points for that week.

Double weeks require all 12 results to be correct for 20 bonus points. One postponement requires 11 out of 11 for a bonus 10 points. Any further postponements will remove any bonus points for that week.

During the season you have two jokers to play. A joker will get you double points on that chosen game week. It is up to you when you want to use it but it must be clearly stated at the time of making your predictions that you are using your joker. In recent seasons using a joker in well chosen double game weeks has made a huge difference in winning the title..**If you get a clean sweep with a Joker you will NOT get double the bonus points, only double the gameweek scores**

Predictions must be made before the first kick off of that week. If there is an early match and that is missed then predictions made for the remainder of the matches will be accepted as long as they are made before kick off.

Double week predictions must be in by the main bulk of games in the first half of the fixtures. (Otherwise it may as well be two separate weeks)

In the event that someone predicts twice I will take the most recent predictions. This allows you to make early predictions to get something on the board and then amend closer to the time.

If you miss a game week you will be awarded the AVERAGE score that was scored in that game week. If you miss four weeks in a row you will be deemed to be no longer taking part. Across the season I will award a maximum of 3 AVERAGE scores for missed weeks, anymore than that and the player will score zero on an subsequent misses. Average scores will be rounded UP to the nearest full point.

If anybody has any queries then raise them at this stage. Hopefully all of that makes sense though.


PREDICTOR CUP

Last season we trialled a cup competition to run in parallel with the league. We will run 2 cup competitions in parallel with the league season, The first cup will be the Autumn Cup running up until Christmas and then in the later half we will have the Spring Cup leading up to the season finale.

Draws will be random. Replays will be played on the next available week. Should a replay not provide a winner, it will be decided in match order for who gets 10 points first, or 5, or 3...


Points will be awarded for Predictor Cup success.
Winner of a cup gets 25 points
Runner Up get 10 points
Losing Semi Finalists get 5 points

I will try to keep a few weeks of fixtures up for anyone going away at any point. You do not need to predict all at once. I will avoid Friday night fixtures where possible as that is where most predictions were forgotten. However, there can be no complaints if a Friday night game is included and you have missed it.
