With today being my first opportunity to see us live I was interested to see how we would play and it felt like at least for the first 30 minutes it looked like pretty much the same the only time we looked threatening was the deep diagonal to Saka. One moment of quality from Zubimendi with a lovely cross and very good header got us up and running. My initial thoughts on Gyokores are that are very much if we supply him with chances he will score he's had two half chances in that first half and he's scored one not a bad ratio for me. Secondly we have done very well to get hold of Zubimendi you should never go overboard on a player before he's had time to bed in having said that you could tell after 45 minutes he's a lovely footballer to watch and he gets stuck in. All in all there were some familiar problems but also some nice surprises, how ready we are for the start we will see next week.

Zubi looks quality, much more forward thinking than Partey so I wonder if we'll see him working more in tandem with Rice than just sitting.
Gyok was nice in the link up for the second too.

Madueke had 45 minutes on the left wing today. Plus another 15 minutes against Villarreal.
I know he's used to life on the right flank. But I'd be very interested to see if we could somehow find a way to transition him to the opposite flank.
I punched the air when he dinked that left-footed cross into the box today. We haven't had a natural left peg on that wing for decades. The closest we've come to it was Tierney.
No faffing about, or cutting inside. Just get the ball, and ping it into the box. Gyokeres will handle the rest.

He works well on the left as a functional system player but he never found the productivity that he has on the right on that side. Maybe you can unlock it by persisting but you will lose something in the short term
