Disappointing...............

but I think we can take a lot of positives out of the game.

Hard to legislate for a goalkeeping error like that, but I don't really want to focus on that.

Cunha and Mbuemo both looked full of energy, hopefully can keep that going - a real noticeable difference to what the likes of Rashford and Nacho were giving us.

Dorgu looked solid - I get the feeling he could be a regular solid 7/10 player. Sometimes didn't look up to see who he was crossing to (sadly no-one was there on too many occasions) but I thought he had a good game.

Mount looked bright also, although if Sesko gets up and running not sure how many games he will start.

But we really took it to Arsenal, and I know we didn't score, but it was just one of those days rather than we weren't creating chances etc, which it felt like last season.

They will feel down, but most important thing for me is to take the positives and hopefully show this in the next match at Fulham.

It's left me feeling disappointed but optimistic also

We did ok today. The 3 areas we looked weak were up top (where we have Sesko to come in), at CM where I’ve been saying all summer we need a better CM and GK where we played our 2nd choice who has always been terrible. Onana might not be the answer but he’s is still head and shoulders above Bayindir. On top of this this group of players should grow and have a better understanding of each other over the coming weeks.

Whether the club have identified any legitimate alternatives to Baleba I have no idea but a better CM would really make the world of difference.

Well I could say that as we didn't score, they all did fack all then. I feel you are being harsh, but it's all about opinions.

I just think in general we saw a lot more from the team in terms of creating scoring chances and just how we attacked compared to last season, and Mbuemo played his part in that

Meh, I've already mentioned that he looks tidy and it was a bit occasion. Likely just needs to settle in.
Cunha was top notch today though.

The issue will always come to money. A legitimate alternative will still cost 40 million plus. I actually prefer Wharton, but he wouldn't be much cheaper than Baleba. Fernandes at Southampton might be a cheaper option, but then you are going more for potential than proven quality.

We may need to accept we have to make do with what we have - it was always seen as needing a few windows to get us where we want to be, we've addressed the attack, we may need to wait for the rest

I think we need to accept we were never going to fix all our problems this window. In fact most of us didn’t expect to bring in and spend as much as we have so we probably need to be thankful that we have done what we’ve done this window.

You could argue that the money could’ve been spent different and not all on offensive players but that’s been done now and nothing we can do.

I’d love it if we could get in a quality CM before the window bit not holding my breath.

Given our lack of goals, and that Rashford, Nacho and Hojlund weren't firing, I can understand why we did what we did transfer-wise, and I was also surprised we got all 3.

Even if no-one else comes in, I think we still have a squad good enough to challenge for top 6, and when does a manager ever say they are entirely happy with their squad?

I can only imagine the reaction if we brought in a top GK and CM, and maybe one other attacking player. It's just needing to accept it's a longer term project but saying we will be patient and showing it are 2 different things for many on here

I think for me the questionable decision has been bringing in offensive players to then move our most effective offensive player into a deeper position where I don’t think he is anywhere near as effective. Time will tell I guess.

Vs Fulham it’s gonna be;

???
Yoro De Ligt Shaw
Amad ??? Bruno Dorgu
Mbeumo Cunha
Sesko

Keeper and Bruno’s partner the only places in question you’d think. Amad I expect to start at RWB in the ‘easier’ on paper games.

Whenever we claim a spot, it's ours whenever we want it to be.
E.g. 1st, 6th, 15th.

Why have Mount marking Saliba? Get De Ligt on him, surely?
