Ruben Amorim: “Mason Mount played 30 minutes with an injury, I am concerned about that."
Standard, that’s him out until February. On the bright side Cunha was walking freely after the match so it may have just been cramp.

Just think when players flag it themselves instantly and pull up to be subbed off, they usually know something is up.

A good thing, rather than play with an injury for 30 mins e.g. mount.

To be fair we looked a much better team with Mount in there than we did with Mainoo.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mainoo is disgruntled and wants out for playing time.
Mainoo has the potential to be a far far better player than Mount.
You only have to look at the key moments both players have delivered at the club already. Mainoo is only 20 and has come up with huge huge goals in big games. Cup final, Lyon to make it 4-4, Liverpool at home, Wolves last minute winner to make it 4-3.
Mason Mount has done what? Barely anything.

Apart from being possibly our best player so far this season.

Apart from being possibly our best player so far this season.
……..
From the games I have seen, I have not watched yesterday’s game yet, I would not rate one single player above 5 out of 10.
Possibly Yoro, at a push.

You must have missed the Arsenal game as well?

No, I didn’t miss the Arsenal game. We played well but the same flaws were there for all to see if they wanted to look.
And we lost because of them. Any who may have earned an above 5 rating has had it knocked back down in the following games.
My scoring is an average not a game by game one.
In Mount’s defence though, he is playing better than Bruno.

Leaving the Grimsby debacle (which saw 8 changes I believe) aside, I'd say the PL starting XI has a bunch of players performing well; Mount, De Ligt, Yoro and Amad in particular. Shaw, Bruno and Mbeumo have been decent.
We haven't really had a problem with levels. We've had more attempts on goal so far this season than any other PL side; we have the highest xG and the fourth highest xG-xGA in the league; and as Diafol pointed out yesterday, we've outplayed the opposition in 5 out of the 6 halves of PL football we've seen this season.
The two biggest problems we've had have been, once again, a) finishing our dinner, and b) goalkeeping errors and weakness.
The first of those issues I'm hoping we'll see ameliorated by Sesko getting up to speed, Mbeumo and Cunha settling, and one or two players finding their groove. Amad is certainly a better finisher than we've seen so far this season. None of those are a given, granted; but I cannot believe that, for example, Cunha is a worse finisher than Garnacho. Sesko demonstrated yesterday that with his superior movement and use of his body he's going to find more opportunities around the six yard box than Hojlund.
As to the second, it is strikingly clear that we need a new goalkeeper. I had hoped that we'd see a more confident and focused Onana emerge this season, but that is seeming like more and more of a pipe dream now. Bayindir is clearly not up to the job. Is Lammens the answer? I have no idea, but we need a new number one; competition for whichever of Onana and Bayindir stays won't be enough.

I don't think it's an exaggeration to state that we could well be top on nine points had a few things gone our way and we had a bit better quality in key positions.
Everyone seemed to agree at the start of the Summer we needed a better CF and a competent keeper. We've not yet seen that yet in the PL. Hopefully Sesko can get major minutes in the international break to get up to speed. I'm confident he'll score goals if we get balls into the box.

You can’t leave the Grimsby game aside. It happened.
Other than that I pretty much agree with the rest.
I would say finishing and bad goalkeeping cost us ten league positions last season.
One of the problems I have with Amorim is that he kept playing Hojlund and Onana last season no matter what.
It reminds me of the episode of Blackadder Four where Field Marshall Hague kept using the same plan over and over getting all his troops slaughtered.
