Thoughts from today

Looking forward to today and hopefully an improved performance.

So Piroe dropped for Nmecha, interested to see how he fared.

Well, pretty poorly, very little physical presence hardly ever held the ball up, not impressed so far.

But not helped with really poor distribution from Perri, I struggle to remember any kicks out that we actually picked up the ball from.

Defence looked relatively solid, except for a a couple of times whereby Bogle tries to muscle man off ball rather than win ball and a couple of scares from Struijk, one a complete air header back that for me sums him up, I just think he's a weak link back there, and another where he was clear winner in footrace for ball only to be outmuscled off ball by Elanga.

In contrast, Gudmodsoon looked really good. We hear we cant judge players after a couple of games, but of course we can and he looks liek a really solid left back signing, hope that he didnt go off for any significant injury.

Rodon, looks very assured whilst sporting his third distinct hairstyle of his Leeds career and some new tattoos.

Longstaff won man of the match but to be honest not sure anyone deserved it, was a real low quality match and our midfield didnt really stand out. Stach seems tired already and Gruev usual ineffective, except for one lovely forward call where I thought WTF! he made one other forward pass later on, straight to a Newcastle player.

The coverage was interspersed with lots of shots of what looked like an 80s German p rn star in stands that Newcastle are apparently signing.

Lots being made of our lack of shots on target and never looked liek Nmecha was going to change that.

Dan James worked hard but didnt have real opportunity to use his pace, Gnonto also worked hard, and despite delivering some balls, no one to take advantage of them.

Changes made, Aaronson and Harrion on and that's 2 players on and one off that have been hated bytes fans and that is credit to Farke to being able to re-integrate them.

Whist Aaronson was effective last season, he's lightweight in teh premier, but Harrison, looks more effective and provided good ball for Calvert Lewin who came on later.

Nmecha starting and DCL coming on means this is first time since Piroe been here that he's been in squad but not been used at all. Piroe comes in for a lot of criticism, but reality is he scores regularly for us and we're creating less opportunities now, so I think our lack of goals is not down to him.


Newcastle had a couple of corners and they were poor. One wonders why teams dont look at Arsenal, They are hugely successful in this area, teh corner that is high, curls in and glancing headers reap rewards. With our increase in height, I'd like to see us develop this tactic.

I think a point against a top 10 team is decent, but I'd rather we'd signed 4 less players and got a proper striker in. I think DCL will come good (it's a hope more than anything), but I dont think Nmecha is the solution.

I'd have taken 4 points at this stage before season started, so I think we're doing ok, but its clear for all that we need goals, will be interesting to see in Board can deliver.
