Martin Crowe Announces Comeback at 48

"Martin Crowe, the legendary New Zealand batsman, has said that he is serious about making a comeback to first-class cricket as a means of self-motivation and a tool to get fit at the age of 48. Crowe will first turn out for the Cornwall cricket club before deciding on his future plans to play for Auckland Central Districts. If everything goes well, Crowe said, he will have a crack at getting the 392 runs he needs to tally 20,000 first-class runs."

Didn't he retire early because of knee problems? If so then I hope a comeback doesn't do any long term harm.
Good luck to him though. One of my favourite players and obviously a great bat.

Crowe! He would be a great batsman to to watch, even at 48.

Hope he can manage it; hopefully this would lead towards the spectators outnumbering the players on Kiwi FC grounds.

"Didn't he retire early because of knee problems?"

The article on crickinfo says that he had an operation a few years ago that would give him 15 years before needing a knee replacement!

Very brave (or is it foolish?) to attempt a come back at 48 with or withourt a knee problem.

I really, really hope he succeeds. I'm 48 too!
Russell should help him to make a film about it, one day.

Yep I agree, I think sportsmen retire way too soon sometimes. Good luck to Martin :D
