Tonight's Game

Hi Guys,

I'm New, finally decided to make an account after years of reading through 606 Forums.

Anyway, onto Tonights game.

What do you guys think will be our starting 11?

I know Hughton has been talking in the press about rotation. I'm guessing he's probably planning on letting some of the fringe players into the first team fold. It's a shame we are missing Gomis as he seems to be a leader in the centre of the park and really makes things tick. Also, it seems strange to say considering he hasn't really played many games for us. But the combination of Mutch and Gomis in the middle of the park is going to be a real bonus for us when Jordan gets back to fitness.

I expect the team will look something like this:

-------------------Myhill-------------------
--Carr----Davies----Ibanez---Murphy--
--Burke--N'daw---Fahey---Redmond--
-----------Zigic-----Wood---------------

It's not the team I would go for personally but I feel like this is the strongest lineup we can field that will give people like Beausejour, King and Caldwell a rest.

We can expect to see the wingers getting into the wide positions and getting the ball in the box as much as possible.

What do you guys think?

Wood and Rooney up front for me tonight. Zigic played a big part in the games against Leeds and Brighton and Marlon got a long run out.

Welcome Simbo.

I agree that we will make a few changes but expect to see Beausejour to play because I think he is suspended for Sunday anyway, but not 100% sure of that?

I think he will go:

Myhill
Spector
Davies
Ibanez
Murphy
Burke
Elliot
N'Daw
Beau
Rooney
Zigic

Like you said not the team I would pick but propbably what we will go with. If I was pciking I would rest Burke, he has been outstanding this past month but could do with a rest.

Here's to anoher good European night at St Andrews!

Team I'd go with would be

Myhill

Carr Davies Caldwell Murphy

Redmond Fahey Elliot Bausejour

Wood Rooney

Think it's a big bonus having Elliot back fit for tonight. Think Redmonds due a run out and Burkes due a rest. Rooney needs to start taking his chances because he seems to get himself in some great positions but can't put the ball in the net. He's the sort of player where if he got an early goal his confidence would grow and he'd play a blinder.

You have to look at who he usally plays in Europe and the fact he wants to rest players.

I reckon

Myhill
Carr, Ibanez, Caldwell, Murphy
Burke, N'Daw, Fahey, Redmond
Rooney, Wood

Subs - Elliot, Zigic, King, Doyle, Ridgewell, Davies, Beausajour

On my way soon - give you an unbiased report tomorrow.

Myhill
Spector Ibanez Caldwell Murphy
Ndaw
Burke Elliott Beau
Wood Zigic

I know that we never rest Burke or Caldwell but they don't seem to mind and always perform. I was critical of Burke a few weeks ago for being in-and-out of games but in the last month he has been sensational for me, thought he was the star in first half vs Brighton. Caldwell as well keeps us calm at the back and I think we really miss his presence.

I really hope we use Zigic more as I feel he could be the missing link between attack and defence, he comes for the ball well, I do like King but I think he needs a rest, looked a bit predictable on Saturday.

Statistically Wood is overdue a goal as well .........KRO

welcome ot the forum Simbobaker, great post

I don't necessarily agree with your comments on resting players but I see where you are coming from. Like you, I am also a fan of Gomis, I know some others who aren't but hey that's why these boards are interesting and CH's job is nigh-on impossible!!!

Hi blue boys
I enjoyed it last night, great fight back. Defence poor first half - trying, badly, to play the offside game. B,jour very good. Interesting to watch Fahey as some fans give him stick.I thought he played well, typical link man, neat and unflashy
A good draw as Brugge played well.
Great support, a good night.
