Just watched the extended highlights back. What on earth happened?

We looked horribly off the pace in the second half. NRC and Muamba didn't hassle their midfielders on the ball, our wingers didn't tuck in and we didn't put them under any pressure.

I thought our work rate dropped massively in the 2nd half. This was very disappointing. Coyle should've noticed this and maybe put Kakuta, Tuncay or Petrov on earlier, in a 5 man midfield. When we are under pressure like that, the only way to relieve it is to keep the ball. I think Tuncay would've been prefect for that. He is the man that will drop into our midfield and link up the game.

I felt sorry for young Riley. WBA went straight for him 2nd half and he didn't get enough help to cover him. Mavies rather neglected his defensive duties when we were chasing the game.

No doubt about it now. This season is a struggle and one that we will have to limp through. An away point against WBA would've been a good result and we weren't really far off that. We need more of our first half performance and the performance against Stoke.

Intensity is absolutely key to our survival, but unfortunately, we didn't have that in the 2nd half today. Lets move on to Everton and hope for another home 3 points there

As I've said many times, every team in the world rely on 2 or 3 players. We rely on Cahill, Lee and Holden.

United rely on Vidic, Nani and Rooney.
Arsenal rely on Vermalen, Walcott and Van Persie.
Barca rely on Messi, Iniesta and Villa
Madrid rely on Ronaldo, Casillas and Benzema
Fulham rely on Hangeland, Duff and Zamora
Liverpool rely on Reina, Gerrard and suarez
Villa rely on Agbonlahor, Bent and given.

You take two or three of any of those players out of a starting 11 and suddenly they don't look as good.

Newcastle relied on Carroll, Nolan and Barton last year, they sold them and bought in Ba, Cabaye and Marveux...well the three they replaced them with, collectively are better players and they planned to aigned them, could we take Cahill, Holden and Lee out.. Our replacements are 2nd team players, Newastle replacements are better players than the originals cannot be compared.

So for 4.5 m Newcastle made 40m in sales and got better. We sold al habsi for 4 Taylor for 2.5 got elmander off the wage bill and quite a few others. We got in NRC, pratley and ngog fir 4.5m. I know who did the bad business over the summer.

Petrov, Carroll was wayyyy overpriced, simple.

Newcastle spent a lot in the transfer window, a lot more than us and can spend a lot more in wages !!!

We have no money, we HAD to sell to buy. We are not Newcastle so get this idea we are out of your skull !!!!

Congrats Petrov you continue to miss the point in every discussion you've ever been involved in.

Well done you've shown we could have bought Cabaye, however he never would have left the former league champions and champs league football for Bolton, Newcastle can attract that sort of player.

Barca rely on Messi, Iniesta and Villa

Totally off topic but I think Xavi is Barcelona's key player, personally.

We have NO money to sign another Anelka ...

Even in the Championship, Newcastle could afford to spend high wages on players such as Nolan and Barton.

They can afford to let Barton leave for nothing, we simply can't afford to do that.

Why are we arguing about Newcastle? they have 50,000 at their games...more than the scoucers, Spurs & Villa etc....if not for numbskulls running the club over the years they should be a consistant top 10 club. We should not be comparing ourselves to them in any way.

Barca is a lil harder for obv reasons, I only picked Villa because of goal threat, however Xavi is probably the best central midfielder in the world.

That'sa Newcastle team who were bought by Mike Ashley, who sacked Allardyce and brought in Keegan, Kinearr, and Shearer. Newcastle had a good team, They had and continue to have the worst owner in football, from his managerial choices alone that's clearly why they went down not from player talent. Newcastle turn over much more than we do, ability to sign Cabaye, for £4.5m and give 60k a week or Ba for 80k and let Barton leave for £0.

Doesn't matter if Newcastle spent ONE season in the champ because of their owner, they still have been in champs league and have a worldwide appeal, unlike bwfc. Please evaluate my 3 player theory. You know that theory is correct for 99.9% of teams in the world.

just another angle on this i feel...

i like coyle and want him to do well, however - if we don’t do well regardless - its HIS fault! he is the manager of the team, he sets the team up, chooses who starts, makes the subs etc...

i think the problem is, with all the injuries we have this 'tippy tappy' 4-4-2 based system he wants to play is NOT working - yet he is still trying to play nice flowing football when he has not got the players to do so.

Look at the players we have - players who cannot pass the ball, have not much or no pace at all, players who can put 'a shift in' - that’s all we have. coyle should be playing to the current squads strenghs instead of trying to play a system with players who cant play that way.

we are attacking and going at teams gung-ho, we have neither the players or pace in the squad to do this as stated above, correct we miss holden and lee - players who have the pace but can also track back fast and defend when they have to. the amount of times we concede from counter attacks is amazing, i would like to see the stats.

big sams philosophy when the team were on a bad run was - keep a clean sheet first, then try and get a goal. sometimes it wasn’t pretty to watch, but it brought results. when the flair players (youri, anelka, jay-jay etc) were available they entertained us - but when we had to the onus was on organisation and keeping a clean sheet. big sam played to the strengths of his squad - coyle doesn’t, he has one plan and i don’t think he has the tactical knowledge to change anything (either this or he is to stubborn/ignorant to change his philosophy)

i know we have played 4-5-1 at times, however we are still surging forward like men possessed leaving us open at the back - hence the lack of draws we have.

like i said before, i want coyle to do well. but we need a tactician not a 'nice guy who wants to play football the right way' - we dont have the resources for that at the moment. we need someone to realise this and set the team up to play ugly sometimes - its about getting results now, i don’t care about tippy-tappy football. we can start doing that when we have the players and enough points on the board...
