Watching the early part of the summer it seems Broad is well off the pace at the moment. I personally think he has mass potential but at some stage he has to start delivering consistantly, especially with England picking 4 bowlers and lacking a test quality allrounder at the moment. The problem for Broad could be that he's coming back from a abdominal injury which can be very difficult for a quick bowler to recover from. However if he doesnt rediscover his form the selectors will be looking for a replacement.
For me the natural replacement is Bresnan, he seems to have continually developed since he started playing for Yorkshire, he's become an athlete, bowls consistantly well, is a more than capable batsman and useful in the field. His batting is the key making him an almost like for like replacement. I wonder if he was fit and performing well wether he would already be in the team.
Who do others think would be a replacement for Broad in the test side if he continues to struggle throughout the summer and into the winter series?
Broad - Bresnan

Well i think it will be Bresnan who would be most likely to replace him and he deserves to be first choice replacement given his winter exploits.
I honestly don't think Broad has any idea of what sort of bowler he should be...still. England seem to want him to be a rough them up quick bowler who tries to bounce people out with aggression, look at some of the fields that he has, all there for short bowling, i can only assume under instruction.
For me he's a line and length type bowler looking to hit the top of off, sadly i don;t think right now England see him in that roll.
I think a stint in county cricket will do him the power of good, he looks like a bowler who's forgotten how to take wickets

England will want to see Bresnan in action before he's in consideration. He or Onions would be my third paceman if fit and in form.

A flagging Broad will be replaced by a raring to go Steven Finn. A flagging Steve Finn will be replaced by selectors favorite Stuart Broad, and so on.
Poor old Bresnan in no mans land. They like the tall ones.

Yes Finn would replace him BUT I cannot see Broad being replaced for at least two test matches.

Is the only reason that Broad keeps his place in the side because of who his dad is?

I take the points about the pro-Broad selection bias, or however you want describe it. But people shouldn't forget he's a quality bowler who will find his form. People are too quick to write players off during a bad patch. I'm sitting here watching the KP of old absolutely dominate everyone around him. How many people were calling him to be dropped only recently?

who his dad is didnt help his dad much. he missed about as many test matches through poor selection as anyone. top player.

now im not a KP hatter asking him to be dropped BUT Sri Lanka have a pretty toothless attack without Murali & Malinga.
I'll hold off on the KP praise until the opposistion gets abit better.
As for Broad i hope he never takes another wicket again. Poor player and i cant belive England made him captain of 20/20.
