This is the reason why I think I have now moved exclusively to watching UFC, and was highlighted so well in yesterdays fight. Now, don't get me wrong it wasn't a bad fight and well done to Ward and sticking to his game plan, but let's be honest there was not 1 point in which Ward looked close in knocking Froch out. All Ward done was to do enough to win the round, now my question is - is it only me fed up with what I have called the points fighters as they never attempt to knock their opponents out?
Watched a few older fights these last few weeks with Nigel Benn and Ali Vs Fraiser and the big difference I felt a made a bigger spectacle was the fact both guys were trying to finish the fight.
So I suppose my question is: What would you rather watch? 2 people trying to finish the fight, or 2 very good technical fighters who can't really finish fights and "box"?
Or do you think I'm missing the point and should appreciate these fighters?
The points fighter

Ward bit Froch with some good blows but one thing Froch has was a very good chin and a big nose. Credit to Froch for showing so much resillaince as Ward tried everything possible to knock him out.

i appreciate the art of boxing. Boxing is brutal, but doesn't always have to be depending on he protagonists. What is harming boxing is the alphabet belts and the fact that the two best fighters pound for pound won't fight each other.
The fight last night was a decent one. Infact the whole card was excellent
I have absolutely no interest in MMA and never will have. It bores me.

I agree, I really watch boxing to see someone knocked out, not a bore-fest.

I also agree with Paisley - MMA and UFC are rubbish to me.

UFC is really about submission moves.
Again the knockouts look good but the best work is done on the ground by the technicians

Not really Rogue, depends very much on the fighters involved. The more i think about the more it seems that people who are happy to go the distance and play it safe can potentially win all their fights on points, but like i have also said it seems i am not interested in watching 2 technical fighters who arent interested in the knock out but then thats my preference.
Very interesting read is that 7 out of 8 of Wards fights have been done so on points - fair play to him he has always outclassed his opponents.....

"Boxing is all about the technicians
Knockouts happen but i appreciate a true boxing lesson so much more"
Well said.
Boxing is much deeper than just looking out for KO's. But I guess only a few people will understand that.
UFC is an absolute joke though.
