As the title says discuss....

everything just seems more mixed up and confusing after this appointment

Albert, not sure I agree with you. I don't think there was the anticipated cost cutting, we were putting good bids in for some decent players and we turned down a good figure for Lee Camp. In a way I think we brought in SM to attract the likes of Maynard, Routledge, Beckford etc (playing for an ex-England manager for many players would be more attractive than playing for BD). SM certainly thought that these were the kind of signings he was going to get.
Then of course we stopped bidding for expensive players, ND citing FFP. I don't think that this was the reason (not coming in for a couple of years), maybe there was some truth in the Chinese takeover - I don't know but (excuse the pun) the goalposts seemed to be moved overnight.

Mate, when ND started talking about FFP and how good our academy youngsters are,I think we all knew cost cutting was comming. It started well before McClaren came to the club.

Albert, don't want to get into a debate about this but SM seemed to think we'd be able to make big signings, ND started talking about FFP just before the season started. When there were reports of £3 million odd bids for Maynard and Beckford plus matching Swansea's bid for Routledge it really seemed like SM was being backed big time. I don't know if FFP was the real reason the big backing stopped but we all know SM was very frustrated and there were rumours (only) that he was going to walk very early into his tenure because of the lack of signings.
Whatever the reasons let's hope we can get out of this mess and get some pride back into our club.

I would have chosen SOD ahead of SC after SM left.

As a coach he has to be better than those SM left behind doesn't he?

If you were a club chairman and JFH came for a job and said I coached Nottingham Forest's strikers for six months, would you give him a job.

Has JFH been sacked then?

SOD will change the way you play if he is given the reigns but i dont think SC will want him to have too much control as the inevitable outcome will be the sack for Cotterill.
Then of course you will have to pay him up his contract or agree on a settlement, more unexpected expense on top of the extra money you will be paying SOD.

Just give him time. You don't need any more players Sean is a genius. You only have to look at the 1st Div players he brought to Donny who couldn't get in their team and then we beat so called quality teams in the Campionship. This appointment has made our chances of survival decrease. You will now see a quality of football last seen when Cloughie was there and if I get the chance any time I will go to watch it. I can't see SC being there long.
