Ulster coach McLaughlin Disappointed with..

Ulster coach Brian McLaughlin disappointed by Irish selections...

Me to Brian... The selections are conservative, unimaginative, SAFE, Pointless, Frustrating and a whole plethora of other adjectives to describe failure! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this.

Not enough RUGBY posters on JA606! 606v2.com has the RUGBY crowd it seems.

Unfortunately predictability is what many international coaches bank on, however there is no shortage of flair and invention in the Irish squad. The starting 15 will be strong and settled and no less creative than other teams in the 6 nations.

Max mate without Brian O'Driscoll the welsh and the french will make mince meat of our centres and without some flair in there and a settled mid field partnership to get it out to the fast lads on the wing we cant use what flair we have.

Lets look at our backs.
Flair vs solid.
15 Kearney. Solid not one ounce on flair in that boys body but a good solid player with a big boot and great in the air. Not ur classic attacking fullback.
14 tommy bowe. an out and out finisher but he will struggle with no flair inside him to create space and draw defenders a al brian o driscoll.
13 ? who will if be.. Earls certainly has flair and a step, a player i like alot. But he has no hands hes not going to be making any try opening passes to Bowe. If he breaks the line earls will normally do serious damage, if he is tackled the ball goes to ground with him and his defence is not even a shadow of o'driscoll
12 D'Arcy. He rides tackles and gets through holes, (no pun intended!) but flair is not a word that goes well with D'Arcy. And a partnership with earls leaves the mid feild massively under powered in defence.
11. Fitzgerald is the only 11 we have who has flair, but he not in the squad. and even if he was he is behind Trimble in the pecking order in my opinion.
Trimble is a guy i love. hes not fancy just big and strong and a brick wall in defence with a great ability to offload and finish should he get the opportunity. HOWEVER DK never picks him. DK is conservative and will continue to treat Trimble like an outsider.
The only real Flair we have is Sexton at 10. and without the flair behind him and the brains of o'driscoll he is not going to be able to pull off his heroics from the HC final of last year.

All the flair is named in the wolfhounds squad. and DK always say the wolfhounds player are in with a chance to stake their claim on a first squad place but in reality he never gives them that chance. he just says it a lot.

as for the real debate on the other site u mentioned... only if it conforms to the idealistic people who run the site. meaning we all pals and real opinion is deleted followed by warnings followed by "its our club house and u can do what we say or go away" at which point i said. Bite me!

Ireland's centre combination will be very interesting. I honestly think that they should do away with D'Arcy, he's been a good servant but he won't be around for the next world cup.

I'd like to see Trimble play, maybe him on the wing and Bowe can play 13. Is McFadden in the Wolfhounds? He should definitely be in the main squad.

My bad McFadden's in the main squad, he should start at 12. Ian Keatley deserves a spot in the squad, the guy is a terrific playmaker.
