yay or nay?
i'm not sure at all given his considerable pricetag, age and our greater need for centre mid players rather than wingers. he's never really impressed for england, i worry he could be quinton fortune mark 2 - lot of money for a squad player.
however...he did have a decent season for villa last time round, he's got good prem experience and he has potential. if he does join, good luck to him, hopefully he'll make a success of it.

I'm pretty sure Roman's legal team and accountants will have the FFP rules in hand.
As will City's
They won't be risking their place in the CL
They will already have a rigid plan mapped out, as I'm sure all top clubs have
===============================================
atm you're losing 60m a season without any transfer spending.
you can only lose £40m cumulative over the next 3 seasons.
action will be taken against you from 2013/14.
legally, you've not a leg to stand on as all UEFA competitions are invite-only.
roman is risking not only your CL spot but your future on gambling to win the CL before the new movement against finicial doping slaps you down.
-------------------------------
What do you mean I don;t have a leg to stand on. I'm a United fan
If you think the Chelsea and City board do not have a plan mapped out and are choosing to ignore the rules then you're being a tad daft
These people are not stupid you know

Apparantley Roman had long discussions with Platini about FFP and was in favour of it. It'd be highly stupid of him and the board if they didnt have a plan in place.
I'm interested to know what this secret plan is though

He'll be another Dwight Yorke. Decent in a sh*t team. Terrific with good players around him. He may not have Barcelona quaking in their boots. But who the f*ck would? There's not a player in the world better than Iniesta, Xavi or Messi. You've got to look at buying players who have the potential to improve. And he has that in abundance.

any owner would be in favour bc it will allow the clubs to hammer down transfer fees and the wage inflation which is killing the game.
however, chelsea can't win the CL based on their normal size - so i think roman is gambling on throwing cash at it now, getting it then downsizing the club once FFP bites.

Also, anyone know what number he'll get? He was number 7 at Villa wasn't he?

Rubbish: we are already on target to meet FFP Monitoring period 1 in 2014.
Our revenue is now €250m. The fifth highest in Europe: that will allow us to compete in Europe for years to come

you lost 70m - before the signing of torres and luiz.
the only thing you're on target for is a firm ban.

Chelsea have already begun the reduction of the wage bill, which wasn’t really reflected in the above financial figures released. High earners like Michael Ballack, Joe Cole, Ricardo Carvalho and Deco have all left. Their replacements – Yossi Benayoun (£60,000 per week reportedly), David Luiz (£35,000 p/w reportedly), Ramires (£25,000 p/w reportedly) – may have cost a total of £44.5 million but earn significantly less.
You can write off all contracts signed pre2010 in FFP Monitoring period 1 (2011-13).
If you are showing a downward trend in wages you will not be sanctioned.
In reality no clubs will be sanctioned until monitoring periods 2 or 3 and even then clubs will appeal against bans and have them suspended.

I dont think "Oshealegend" really knows what he's waffling on about.
He just sees a big loss figure and gets excited at the prospect of Chelsea being banned from Europe.

It won't happen.
Even if they were sanctioned say FFP monitoring period 4 say 2017, they would appeal and appeal... if the rules are even in place by then
