5 year deals were as rare as hens teeth once but it appears it's the way clubs/players are appoaching it now a days....it will get to the stage where players won't require the services of those grubby managers with these longer term deals getting signed, there is not much a manager can do for his client once he has been wrapped up for an extended period whilst the players forks out his 5%....or what ever...

As far as I'm concered managers/agents are parasites. Take take and put nothing back. Unless your up the very top of the tree why would you need an agent.

The best thing that has happened down under for many a year is the older players have taken to look after young players.
By that I mean.....we have got an old players membership organisation called Men of League which got started about 10 or so years ago when an ex player was visiting his son in hospital when a nurse said to him Oh!! you might know Joe Blogs in bed 9....this Joe Blogg's was penny-less and no direct immediate family...so the visiting ex-player looked after him until he got back on his feet with the help of another couple of men from that earlier era.
This was the beginning of what now is known as the Men of League which has thousands of members from the ex playing days to current and they run charity days to raise funds for those not quite as well off or as healthy as some....a great cause.

This brings me back to the beginning, the Men of League have set up a few ex players who work as player agents and offer a minimal cost for the same work as an agent does except the fee goes to a good cause instead of the grubs pockets.....if any of that makes any sense at all.

Cheers

Watkins needs an injury free season if he wants to become a definite first teamer for years to come.... would like to see a bit of Hood andChisholm this season as well.
