Why is it that many fans on here appear intent on stirring up hatred and creating discontent among the masses, particularly when our season is currently going so well with promotion a real possibility.
Most of their current vitriol is aimed at Lee Clark, who they are now even trying to off load on our near neighbours down the road. I could better understand all this nasty and vindictive clap trap aimed at Clark, if we were languishing in the bottom half of the table, but no we are right up there near the pinnacle with everything still to play for with only18 matches remaining.
I'm pretty sure most genuine fans from most other clubs would give their right arm to be in Town's current position, and must really wonder what kind of hard headed and ungrateful fans we have following Town. Lets be honest here, I can't think of any other clubs fans who would be so hell bent on derailing their own teams promotion chances, by persistently trying to undermine their manager at every verse end, especially at this most critical time of our season.
Any manager can be proud of a record which has produced 80 points in his first full year, followed by 87 in his second and who is bang on target to win even more points this season, not to mention suffering only a couple of defeats in his last 53 league matches.
So where do we as genuine Town fans find ourselves at the moment? - caught up in trying to reason with the "Negative Wreckers", who appear hell bent on undermining Clarky and thereby derailing our promotion ambitions.
As for me, I'll stay loyal until the bitter end and give Hoyle and Clark my full backing, because it's my duty as a fan to back others who are trusted to deliver what we all crave, namely promotion to the Championship.
So come on you wreckers, swallow your pride and do what proper fans do in the same situation, and get behind everyone involved at Town in our final push for promotion.

I could buy into that theory Bryce. Someone said it's a simple game played by simple fellas. You could in fact say it about his whole managerial style. I get the impression he is thinking about football from the moment he gets up to going to bed. Maybe if he allowed himself some time off he wunt be so uptight all the time performing badly infront of the press.
No one likes to put in 100 hours a week to be told they are not doing a good job.

2 Things you should never do on a fans forum ...
1. Use phrases such as "I've played the game at a high level .." to add weight to your argument - you just sound immature
2. Suggest that posters who disagree with you are not as genuine a fan as you - you just sound immature.
Oh dear Mirf - you have been found guilty of number 2. I mostly disagreed with you but I always respected your views. Do you realise how childish your post sounds? Do you realise how stupid it makes you look when you imply that you are a genuine fan?
So now we know that the genuine fan is not the one who travels up and down the country watching their team week in week out, it is the guy who just attends the cheaper home games and spends the away games by the fire with his radio, calculator and notepad putting stats together.
I don't think Clark's doing a particularly good job, I don't think much of his personality either. I'm now also gutted to discover that I'm not a proper Town fan like you.

EggNog,
I always thought that Genuine (real & sincere) fans fully backed their Clubs through thick and thin and would never try to undermine their manager, particularly when RESULTS prove he his doing a decent job.
Ask yourself, what sort of fans are they when they currently resort to trying to off load our manager to another club, especially when we are currently sitting second in the table with everything to play for?. Also please tell me what good this continual "slagging off" of Lee Clark achieves in the current situation?
So I still maintain that genuine (real & sincere) fans will stand fully behind the Club and Management in their efforts to deliver us promotion and not resort to promoting any unrest at this most critical part of our season.
Finally, if you personally "don't think Clark is doing a particularly good job" how do you start to justify our current league position and improvements in results over the past few seasons?

Mirf.........
Its simple really, yes we are 2nd, yes we are doing well, ....
But promotion is all that counts !!! Clark hasn't got that yet, surely you can see the frustration ??

Mirf - justification with the resources he's had ...
Promoted in 1st full season - brilliant job
Promoted in 2nd full season - very good job
Promoted in 3rd full season - good job
Your a stats man - I'm sure you'd agree that its about 50:50 that we'll go up this season. So not a particularly good job is about right for now.
If President Assad bought Town and installed his son as manager would we not be genuine fans if we suggested that this might not be good for the club?

Bob,
Re: Your last comment - what's that got to do with the price of turnips?
I've never insinuated that fans are not allowerd to post valid comments regarding how their club is run, but my point was that when a Manager is performing OK and his team are looking a good bet for promotion (and I tipped them on an earlier thread for an home draw against MK Don's), genuine fans will give him 100% backing until the season ends.
And no, I don't agree that promotion is looking 50:50. I still reckon we'll claim an auto spot and if we don't, then it's definitely a case of third time lucky in the play-off's as far as I'm concerned.
