Do we bring Smithies back in?

Simple question, do we really need to bring him back in? Because in my opinion Bennett has been fantastic for us and I think it would be a little harsh if he was to be dropped

How many GK specialist coaches do we need ? If Bennetts a legend ? Am Chinese,, Lets have a statue of Cox and Rankin at the end of the bridge and we could rename the FM stand the Terry Poole end find somewhere to call the David Lawson "car park" and lets not forget Vaesen and Dubbin and Jacko will probably come up with a couple of our other Goalkeeping legends of yesteryear who i never saw.

"THE UNBEATEN RUN"...
if its as important as lc says it is, then bennett had a good deal to do with it..
maybe without p clark in the side smithies might have no one to argue with when we let a goal in and it will help his game further???
His chelpyness(is that a word?) rose with his valuation...

Smithies will need quite a few games under his belt and some good performances to get back to where he was..his injuries may cause some of the "suitors" to think long and hard... we as a club need our more "valuable" players to be playing, just in case promotion isnt gained..

By all accounts he's put in decent performances in the development games but looked a little rusty. A few more under his belt and he should be ready for first team action. If he doesn't have to play behind P. Clarke hopefully he'll have 2 defenders who are willing to take orders from their goalkeeper, which should always be the case.

that was my point terrier..

if p clark decides he is going to do something, all the shouting and assistance from those around him and 15 thousand in the crowd wont stop him.. he then may decide at the point of no return to change his mind and "fool" everyone, usually apart from their striker who takes full advantage..

I have heard bennett call for the ball from crosses and for the ball to be played back to him, so many times and clark just ignores him and makes a daft challenge or kicks the ball into row z or up in the air under little pressure.. For a "warrior, dominant" centre half i have never seen someone allow the ball to bounce as much as he does.. You sh-t yourself everytime the ball goes long and its him against a striker because has has dropped 5/10 yards behind the other defenders..
Keepers should be giving instructions, they can watch the game, defenders should be watching their men, full backs should be holding the line looking across the pitch, central defenders should be taking that good advice from their colleagues..
one bloke deciding where everyone is going to play is not good especially when he seems to change his mind like the wind..

It'll be one or the other, unless they pick someone else........

jacko...
lets hope we could put me in the "sticks" and it wouldnt make any difference... I can kick it further than either of them and when coming out for crosses and one on ones, my "war face" is good.. If they start placing them in the corners im knackered as it takes me a week to get down and with my "knees" a bit longer to get back up again.. plus, i would have smacked alan smith, even before kick off on saturday, i couldnt be trusted....

38 touched on it but Smithies has to play if only to keep his value up. If we don't bet promoted and he spends the next few months on the bench behind a 40 year old, we will sell him and get less than a million pounds.

If he plays, proves his fitness and shows good form he would fetch 3 million? In fact thinking about it 6/7 million for Smithies and Rhodes. maybe Deano would not be too upset should we fail this time?

Depends if they feel Smithies has got rid of his rustiness...but with a pitch inspection in the morning, it seems the game could well be in serious doubt...That would pose the question as to whether they would risk Smithies for the big game on tuesday night...which is probably still likely, if he trains well with no after effects.
