Spain > England

Does anyone else feel like ALL English clubs are now becoming a stepping stone towards either Barca or RM?

Apart from the odd player who heads to City to get a massive pay packet, I feel that any young player with real footballing aspirations wants to get a move to these two Spanish clubs and are being advised that a couple of years in England is the best way to develope and get there, Hazard being the latest example.

I think the Barca and RM squads are too strong to come in and get first team football so going to weaker English teams and biding their time is the best bet. It's a shame really.

Kent, that's what it told me to put it as when I was creating the article.

Romeu hasn't been loaned, Barca can only get him back if Chelsea want to sell him

I thought Chelsea could choose to buy him after two years but it'd cost them about £20m? Basically a loan with a first option to Chelsea.

It can also happen in reverse to older players as well. Look at VDV having been to Real but not being fully apppreciated/they had too many good players, he then came back to the Prem and not for money grabbing reasons.

I guess the grass isn't always greener

They have too much money and better weather! It can't last though, with something like 22% unemployment in Spain and global warming kicking in!

Hasn't the level of tax on what they earn gone up? Or set to go up?

I'm sure I read about it somewhere, and Ronaldo was upset about it...

Hasn't tax for the rich increased significantly in Spain? I heard a few stories about how players were getting fed up of having to give away over 55% of their wages .

You seem to know more about it than me anyway.

I ALWAYS do that too.

Yes it has, which is good for the EPL as our tax rise looked like it would lose a lot of players abroad.
Foreign players had it good in Spain for a long time having 'Beckhams law' (preferential tax status to foreigners living in Spain).
