Rookie manager. How long does he need.

Just a thought about some comments made that Pesch is still earning.
Hes had 2 1/2 seasons to get it right.
1 win in 13 isn't good enough.
Swindon manager Paulo di Canio is a rookie first season manager.
1 defeat in 19
My tip for promotion.
Both have played at a good standard.
Maybe its Pesch's obvious lack of passion thats the problem.
Something is seriously missing when you compare what they have achieved.

All good choices CaptainUtd,can't see Martin Allen getting on with Ben,Brian Laws is certainly very competent and Mark Robbins lives locally so it may suit him.
I have no favourite at the present time but i feel Pesch is way out of his depth.May be Gary Rowett will stay as caretaker or i would suspect he will go with Pesch. I would like to see Kevin Poole stay as goalkeeping coach as i rate him very highly.

All very valid comments, but they overlook one important aspect. No way will Ben fire the men in charge.

I guarantee that staying in League 2 for a fourth consecutive season will be enough for him. You could identify Capello as a replacement, but it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference to our chairman.

Wednesburybrewer you are absolutely right ! Thats why i've got rid of my season ticket and why i will not watch the Albion until Pesch goes and the club appoint someone else with ambition whom the club will back financially on the playing side. I don't mean putting the club into financial difficulties but investment into some quality players instead of loans, has beens, free transfers/agents etc.
I would say the commercial activities and community projects are being run well and are progresive but that the football side is under promoted, under funded and geared towards survival only.
Unfortunately for Pesch his poor signings and deals have limited his options and tactically he has it totally wrong and doesn't seem to know what to do or how to motivate the squad. He has no one to blame but himself.
May be Ben is trying to build a bigger financial foundation before the club can move forward but i think the supporters need to know that and deserve better on the pitch than is being served up at present. Unfortunately supporters see Ben as running the purse strings too tightly and unlikely to invest in players at the moment and trying to do everything on the cheap football wise. Now that may be harsh on Ben but it is the view i get from talking to numerous fans.
I don't think any of the supporters would want to detract from what Ben has done for this club or town and putting what i've heard in words is not meant to be critical or negative, infact is is written as constructive positive feedback !

One thing that surprises me with Burton, and which you hint at terraceman, is the lack of dialogue between the club and its supporters. I think that is the very reason why supporters are starting to question the aims and intentions of the club - I mean, do any of us really know the targets our manager is set each season?

You very rarely hear Ben in the media which is a shame as just opening up on what the club wants to achieve in the short/medium/long term would be interesting and may actually take some heat off of the manager.

Swindon fan in peace.

Pez, thanks for the kind remarks about PdC, most other League 2 supporters seem to want to demonise him! His passion is infectious. Currently the bond between manager, players and fans is as good as i can ever remember and a lot to do with our recent success.

Looking forward to tomorrow's game...I don't understand why your form has dipped, you were going well and deservedly beat us at your place. I thought you were on course for a top seven finish.

Ironically despite our league position and club record nine wins in a row we've been quite poor the last two games but still managed to get maximum points, that's how it goes when things are going your way. I'm expecting a tough game tomorrow, we're due to drop points and a draw wouldn't surprise me.

Good luck for the rest of the season, after tomorrow of course!

Don, I still maintain that for the first twenty minutes of the game at the Pirelli this season your lot gave the best display of football I've ever seen there. I thought we were in for a drubbing that afternoon but inexplicably went ahead when Kee chested the ball over the line, then your 'keeper somehow contrived to give us a second goal moments into the second half.

Being a Pompey lad myself it is good to see Matt Ritchie doing so well, especially after Cotterill bombed him out of his home club.

All in all I think you'll get an easier game than you imagine tomorrow night and, unfortunately, three points as well. I'll be there but more to catch up with a Swindon-supporting colleague than to suffer another 90 minutes of Peschisolido induced boredom!

The targets that have been set are 10 points per month that's it !! I've seen them my self on the changing room walls. And to only spend what the club can afford with out stretching its self . Under soil heating is not cost effective due to number of fans . If more people supported the club then more money could the be spent !!

A few on here have mentioned your dip in form and needing a couple of strong defenders, did anyone find out if there was more to Amankwaah being released than just wages because it seemed a strange decision and the mutterings at the time suggested he had upset the apple cart. Still think he is a loss to us as we have no real cover for right back and was a solid attacking defender who gave 100%.

Who needs Amankwaah now we've got Chris Riggott? (said with tongue very firmly in cheek!).

That was a strange decision and you wonder what went on behind closed doors, but our loss is most certainly Rochdale's gain I think. Since then we've gained what I consider a good right back in Callum Driver, a youngster on loan from West Ham, plus we've also got the aforementioned Riggott and Patrick Ada, who will alas be missing tomorrow due to his two yellows after coming on as a sub on Saturday. At least he's committed....
