Just a quick article on what Celtic and England fans think of Gary's chances of ever wearing an England shirt and playing for his country. With both Rooney and Cleverly out for your friendly against Holland what harm would it do to have called him up to see what he can do.
I understand why most England fans dont care about the lad since he plays in the SPL but I think it is bad management of resources to leave him out.
Gary is the type of player that will score goals anywhere no matter what the league or competition he is in. He is an out and out scorer and old fashioned penalty box player who scores goals and does it with a bit of style. Now I know the average Englishmens view on the quality of the SPL but when other teams play celtic they pack out the penalty box and park the bus making it a lot harder for the style of player Gary is but he keeps banging them in. If you ask me when watching England in the last couple of competitions a player like Gary is what you are screaming out for. I honestly think him and Rooney would make a deadly partnership. And since it is only a friendly what have you got to lose? Anyway just want to get an English view on the matter.

Just looking for some thoughts on the matter. Andy Carrol is an international and Hooper outscored him in the championship and continues to outscore him. I think its all to do with the fact he plays in the SPL which seems to ruin anychance you have of playing for your country as an Englishmen. Sutton was in the form of his life playing for us domestically and in Europe scoring goals against Barca, Juventus and so on but didnt get a call up. I think Thompson got one? No other country seems to have that problem. Our team is made up of lots of different Nationallitys and they all play for their country.
I just think its a waste of a great scorer who could be banging them in for his country. Could you imagine a Hooper and Rooney partnership? It would be Hooper and Stokes times 10!

What i mean is, Hooper has been fantastic for Celtic, scoring goals in Europe wasn't a problem. But why would they bother looking at him when they think a guy with 7 starts is deemed good enough and experienced enough to jump to international level.
Crazy if you ask me.

Yeah I was suprised to see him left out of the squad. I am even more shocked that levein just doesnt swallow his pride and call up Steven flethcher as well who is scoring goals against the best teams in the premier league this season. There are numpties on both sides of the border it seems.
Hooper has progressed with his all round play over his time at Celtic he has scored in Europe and is setting plenty up. I think its foolish to not even give him a couple of friendlies to see what he can do.

If Stokes can't get in the Ireland squad, then you can't really expect Hooper to force his way into the England squad.

Fraizer Campbell (Sunderland)
Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea)
Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)
Danny Welbeck (Manchester United)
Now realistically, how is Hooper supposed to get picked in front of any of those guys?
