Don Bradman.....was he the greatest

Don Bradmans name appears in as many 606 articles as current players Tendulkar, Strauss etc.
The Don hasn't played for well over 60 years and is still spoken of today as much as did when he played.

I found an interesting stat which compares Don Bradman with other sporting greats through-out the sporting world in their chosen sports.....who would of thought we could place the Don on top of basketball great Michael Jordan or Golfs great Jack Nicklaus besides Pele

* World sport context

Wisden hailed Bradman as, "the greatest phenomenon in the history of cricket, indeed in the history of all ball games".[1] Statistician Charles Davis analysed the statistics for several prominent sportsmen by comparing the number of standard deviations that they stand above the mean for their sport.[234] The top performers in his selected sports are:[235]

Athlete

Sport

Statistic

Standard
deviations

Bradman

Cricket

Batting average

4.4

Pelé

Association football

Goals per game

3.7

Ty Cobb

Baseball

Batting average

3.6

Jack Nicklaus

Golf

Major titles

3.5

Michael Jordan

Basketball

Points per game

3.4

The statistics show that "no other athlete dominates an international sport to the extent that Bradman does cricket".[2] In order to post a similarly dominant career statistic as Bradman, a baseball batter would need a career batting average of .392, while a basketball player would need to score an average of 43.0 points per game.[235] The respective records are .366 and 30.1.[235

I know some people don't like to use stats (it usually tosses their arguement out the window)
But when it comes to the Don who played with a simple timber stick on a service with flood ruts against the technoligy of today and they still can't get close, it has to be acknowledged he is the greatest player to ever grace the cricket field......

You've obviously never heard of Jack NIcklaus of Wayne Gretsky. Federer isn't even as good as Borg.

Duncan.....forget the old git, he has lost his marbles and if it hasn't got a union jack on it, it's not worth watching, by geez I hope he doesn't like rugby league or he would be in a terrible state of affairs....he must certainly hate it when the Aussies kick-arise in his own back yard in snooker, billards & darts....even with one arm in a sling...

Darts? Do we really have to discuss that or have you never heard of the greatest sportsman on earth, a man who does his "thing" better than any living being. A man who hit his 15th 9 dart finish yesterday in claiming yet another tournament victory with an average of 114

My beloved Leeds have just won the World Rugby League Club championship. Guess who they beat?

Snooker? You really want to discuss the history of that sport?

Any other sports you care to mention?
