Flower of Scotland in Bloom

Romania fan in peace

Really enjoying this seasons six nations. I think the standard has risen increasingly from the past few years. Everybody has been ranting on about how well the welsh are playing but the thing that has really stuck out in my mind is how the Scottish side look at the moment. I couldn't help notice over the world cup that a lot of the scottish players were looking in good shape and i was surprised to have seen them knocked out in the group stages. I even had the pleasure of meeting the prop Jacobs and he said that they had had some intense conditioning leading up to the competition. Since then I couldn't help notice how BIG some of the players are looking in the six nations. Richie Gray must have stacked on 10kg and Ross Ford looks as though he could squat a pack of Dingo's. Along with a few other players I just can't help but think that there is more to Scotland's conditioning other than shifting some serious steel, especially in the age of sports nutrition and supplements. Just how supplemented are the Scots?????

All seems a bit dodgy to me!!!

Good article.

I have to say I think Scotland have been unlucky this 6 nations. They use their weight quite well around the pitch. Like the old saying goes 'those you shift their weight, usually shift the scoreline in their favour'.

For my money, I think they could sneak it by 3 points this afternoon.

Best of luck to Romania. I hope your country can join us one day in the elite of European rugby.

Scotland are playing with real invention and ambition. Which is creditable. They struggle with fitness in my view; players can't get into supporting positions quickly enough or realign the defensive screen after turn over ball. Some players still struggling with basic execution. But to me, they've been a breath of fresh air in the tournament so far. Far from the dour negative play of yesterday, they seem to have found the nerve to play open and fast (as they often did in the last 10 minutes of the game when it was comfortably lost). They also have turned up some real stars in Hogg, Denton and Gray. Just missing some vital links to form a genuine threat.

It's a shame they haven't sneaked a win, I fear AR's head might be on the block and I can't help but think given more time he might be on to something here.
