Rahul Dravid - what a player

The old guard has now truly been broken, Dravids retiement came as a shock, I know he struggled in Aus but his incredible batting in England convinced me he had more innings in him. I suppose that it is to indias benefit that their legends go out in stages rather than in a short period, which I think may be part of why he retired now. Always thinnking of the team.
Anyway dravid is a great and massively underrated in the world game. People argue over whos the best, Sachin, Ricky or Brian, but if Rahul's career had not dovetailed with Sachins his name would be up there as the best batsman of the generation. It should be, he was fantastic. Sachin takes the limelight, fairly, which may also have suited Dravid. He seemed a shy type in front of the camera (sachin also, are they less strongly spoken in English? I cant detect any conceit in either despite their success) so maybe Tendulkars fame helped him, although he didnt seem a chap to struggle under pressure.
Absolutely a great. As a lover of cricket I thank Mr Dravid for all his runs apart from the ones he scored against England
PS this article may appear overly gushing for a non india fan but he was one of my most highly rated batsmen. His and Shivnarine Chanderpaul's wickets are the most prized for me.
PSS has chanderpaul retired yet?
Psss who do you love more india fans? I prefer Dravid to Tendulkar due to the old English love of the underdog & steely, defensively correct cricket. Do any india fans prefer Dravid or is Sachin always the main man?

Dravid is my favourite player of all time. Guess that answers your question

voice thats asking who do you like more from your sons? its funny how you say sachin has stolen all the limelight from him, and yet in his final farewell you do mention sachin. This article is still great and well written, but you shouldnt have mentioned sachin in it.
anyway i will just bring some stats for u,
did u guys no till dravid was 34, he averaged 59, and had the highest average of all the greats we keep on takling about? even ricky was up there with an average of 58, and same as tendulkar. so dravid has been the key for india's so many wins and draws

No no no, i wasnt denigrating sachin or rahul for any limelight 'theft', just saying that ST's presence has taken the spotlight a bit away from RD. This for me, a totally uninformed fan, seemed to suit RD just fine
