With an early declaration Strauss is obviously concerned about the bowling, I just hope for Englands sake the extreme conditions don't knock the bowlers about to much prior to the serious matches around the corner.......dehydration and sun stroke can take a lot out of the system and possibly 4-5 days to recover fully..
Do you think Strauss has done the right thing in declaring here in the warm up match albeit only 8 overs..but a full day tomorrow might test them..

the bowlers are clearly struggling. swann has been going for runs and isnt able to slow down the rate shud be a concern. I think broad is doing pretty well, but i think he is very weak and could be the few one that would get tired or even injured. strauss shouldnt overuse him.

Most tests in Colombo end drawn so these games are not helpful for the conditions they will face in Galle.
I suppose the fitness of players will be tested and they will glean some idea of their form.
after tomorrow they will have an idea of their batting line up.

Looks like Ravi is going to get that 50 that will secure him a test berth for 12 months, where he will not score any runs.....again....
KP seems to have smashed his way back into some nick, would have liked to see him carry on to 100 though.

This hatred of Bopara is just getting sily.
His last series was against India at an average of 51. His last test innings was 44 n.o.
Bopara was not chosen for the Pakistan series where the best average was 36 and the second best average was 27!
There is something about Ravi where people only remember the low scores!

It was due to that meanigless 44no that Bopara averaged 51 in that series.
He sometimes does get unfair criticism, but he's getting a proper chance in this series, so let's see how he does.

Bopara is a good county player only. The fact that he's changed his mind and is now going to the IPL shows a lack of commitment to his test career.
