"The White Stripes - The Union Forever"

This is one of those songs that I wouldn't describe as particularly catchy and yet whenever I hear it it gets stuck in my head for days.

Well, seeing as it's Friday...

1) Laisse Tomber Les Filles - April March
2) The Shaman - The Human Beinz
3) I'd Rather Go Blind - Etta James
4) Memories Of Tomorrow - Suicidal Tendencies
5) Frisky - Sly & The Family Stone
6) Seven Seas - Boys Against Girls
7) Burnin' & Lootin' - Bob Marley & The Wailers
8) Redrum - Tom Waits
9) White Trash - Southern Culture On The Skids
10) Dreams - TV On The Radio

Slow start, great finish.

"I'd Rather Go Blind - Etta James"

Love this song.

Etta James was a phenomenal singer. Aretha Franklin got all the plaudits but she was just as good.

At Last has to be up there with the best songs ever written.

Not sure I care for Joe Bonamassa, Pete. I tried one of his albums and just couldn't get into it.

Very talented musician though.

Is Bruce Springsteen actually worth listening too? I always figured he was a bit cheesy.

He can be a bit overblown but he's done a hell of a lot of great stuff. If all you know is songs like Born In The USA and Born to Run type stuff then you're in for a surprise if you listen to albums like Nebraska and Darkness On The Edge Of Town. Much darker and stripped down.

His latest album is pretty good too.

Sorry Pete, but that's the one I tried. Just not for me.

I'll give The Boss another go though. I'll download those albums just now.

Have you ever actually liked any of the albums I've recommended to you? I must recommend about 3 a week, and you still haven't realised my taste in music is crap?

I liked Monster Magnet but not Frank Turner. You're about 50/50 with your recommendations.

So far Pete is 0 for 1 but I'll give the other album by that Bonamassa guy a try at some point.

I've recommened far more than that, surely?

Yeah, but those two were the ones I thought of off the top of my head.

The Wildhearts were alright too. Not as in to them as you are but there are a few bands you've recommended that I liked. Was it you that got me listening to Eric Johnson?

Very few people are into the Wildhearts as much as I am. Eric Johnson wasn't me, I'm afraid. Was it you who liked Black Spiders?

Yeah! That was another one. The Black Spiders were excellent.

Do you still update that blog? I think it's one of my Google Reader feeds but it hasn't blinked at me for a while.

I haven't done for a while, I've been concentrating on other projects and now I've listened to far to many albums to go back and catch up I think. I'll possibly put my albums of the year on there in December.

Good stuff.

I do have a band for you to try if you're interested and haven't heard them yet: Girls Against Boys.

I've only ever heard bits and pieces of them but never given them a proper listen.

That song sounds ok, not sure if it does enough to make me want to get a whole album though.

Reminds me a little bit of Far.

Really? They always reminded me of The Fall. That song is my favourite but perhaps not the best representation of their back catalogue.
