Wasn't Birmingham's "success" built on a solid back 4.

Dann, Johnson and Ridgewell proving to be pretty damn shocking; maybe we should try Carr!

Dann and Johnson were a great unit and had a super understanding, but separated they can look oridinary, Johnson in particular

Scotty Dann was at his best when he was playing along side Roger Johnson, who at the moment is dire at the dingles, maybe you should buy him when the Wolves are relegated.

Or maybe we should buy them BOTH back at a knock down price, when YOU are BOTH relegated and we are promoted back into the premiership, maybe not, neither of them would be able oust Curtis Davies who, in my opinion has been our player of the season.

All our back four with the exception of Carr, jumped ship, when we went down.

They will do again

I'm not a big fan of Danns and don't understand why Givet didn't start

I still rate dann our defence that finished 9th on the back of 1-0 wins and keeping clean sheets just crumbled after dann was removed from it. In my opinion along with kenny cunningham, dann was probably the best reader of a game i have seen in a blues shirt.

People used to talk about roger johnsons last ditch tackles etc but dann didnt have to make them because he read the game before the danger occured. I still believe now had we not lost dann from febuary we'd have stayed up.

I'd have dann back at blues any day, but roger johnson without someone to cover his mistakes is a championship defender in my opinion and is proving it at wolves.

Cheryl Cole is gorgeous, she needs a proper man.

And when she's playing with herself, she thinks of Scotty Dann

To the tune of "my old mans a dustman"

Which premier league club would touch johnson?? Quite high wages at least 7m asking price, arguements with fans all season and now the manager, terrible perfomances, showing up to training half cut, cant see anyone going for him and i'm glad

Roger Johnson has been far worse IMO. To think he said he was disapointed he didnt get a move to a bigger club

See you in the championship, where you belong mate!

Kenny Cunningham ..... now there was a top defender who made very few tackles because he read the game so well and always seemed to be on the end of any cross, despite not being huge for a centre-half. On eo fmy fave Blues players.

Cunningham and Upson made a great partnership we never really replaced them until Johnson and Dann, I'd like a centre back pairing of Davies and Dann think they'd compliment each other well, davies pace and dann's natural ability good combo

Perhaps it was theMcLeish way that helped, a manager that was delighted with nil. That's not a criticism by the way, our wan* manager seems to think we can outscore everyone thus exposing the defence.

Perhaps then I'm being harsh, but at times Dann has looked all over the shop!

I can't help but think surely he's not as bad as he's currently looking. Was fine at Birmingham and while definitely not worth £8m, even if he's worth half that he should be one of our better defenders. How much of it is the way Kean has us set up and the coaching our defenders are getting? Tough question but thats gotta be having some effect.

The problem with Dann and everyother defender at Ewood is there is no help from midfield not enough tackles made or won 50/50 balls we lose more than we should it all add up .Midfield is the problem

Dann was capped for England wasn't he?So it wasn't just Birmingham that saw something in him!

Dann is not a good defender at all,he is ok with Givet in the middle because Givet keeps his position without Givet we can be draged all over the place at the back,,but what wories me most is that our BRILLIANT manager still hasnt worked out that he cant start with Dunn and Pedersen in the eam so add Ore to the midfield and its a recipe for disaster and a whipping like we got on Saturday,,he is really clueless,,

posted on 8/4/12

Yes, the defence is dragged allover the place, but that is because of the lack of protection from the midfield. It's been a weakness all season - particularly down the wings.

The team was much more disciplined against Manchester United but seems to have reverted to norm against West Brom. Perhaps the team missed the understanding between the two Olssons on the left side.

Got to agree midfield is the problem but Givet is better than Dann ,Givet should play tuesday but i bet he does'nt

Skinovers.

You're probably right about midfield. What people should remember about Birmingham under McJudas was that -of the 10 outfield players- the main priority for 9 of them was to defend. It was as boring as hell, but players such as Ferguson, Larsson and Bowyer worked their socks off to take the pressure off the defence.

Nevertheless, Dann was class for us and his absence from February onwards was without doubt the main reason why we went down last season. As Mackem has said, we'd be happy to have him back if we come up- good players don't become bad players overnight.

Rovers and Birmingham got it wrong you where to defencive we are to open need that happy medium sadly i don't think Kean is good enough to do it

posted on 9/4/12

Birmingham got it wrong finishing 9th? The trouble with Rovers fans is they expect too much, good football and mid-table. I wouldn't care if we were the most boring, defensive team on the planet if it meant finishing out of danger every season.

posted on 9/4/12

I think you'll find Rovers fans would take being a defensive team and finish midtable
