Torres and Sturridge off in Jan? Means we would need to buy 2 strikers or call up Bamford/recall Lukaku. Neither seems smart. We've backed ourselves in a corner which only money will get us out.

Ajax have beaten Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City to the signing of rising star Riechedly Bazoer.

Clubs across Europe wanted to sign Bazoer when he announced his intention to leave PSV Eindhoven and Ajax have won the race.

The 16-year-old defender is rated as one of the best youngsters on the continent and he has eight caps for Holland Under-17s.

And Ajax moved quickly to ensure they landed the rookie, with the switch now official.

It is understood Bazoer has signed a three-year contract, as under Dutch rules, clubs are not allowed to offer under-18s longer than that.

I think Sturridge will end up at Liverpool tbh. If the reports are true that the deal only fell through because Sturridge wanted a permanent move to them rather than a loan, i think Liverpool will make another offer for him.

As with Torres it's anyone's guess. Could be used in a swap deal,could be kept, could be sold to anyone.

Yesterday there were some rumours linking us with Schurrle posted on here.

If we sell Sturridge to Liverpool then I reckon the club must be fairly confident of signing Schurrle, or another target.

If we go for Falcao then Torres will almost certainly be used in some sort of swap deal.

If not then Torres will probably be offered to other clubs, whether anyone else would want him, I don't know. PSG have been linked with a bid...

Mr C i'd like to sell Torres ASAP. Just get him out somehow. I'd like to bring in two similarly good strikers of a youngish age, no worldies, just a level or two below. Plenty to prove, young legs, undoubted ability. Have them compete with Sturridge for the CF spot. Lukaku comes back one day, we always have a forward in form. One can leave depending on how it all pans out.

In a newly published biography of Pep Guardiola, the Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague spends a surprising amount of time writing about Roman Abramovich. The Russian billionaire's obsession with all things Barcelona is no secret; the details of his attempts to install the Catalan club's most successful coach at Stamford Bridge are worth acquiring the book for.

Balague describes salary proposals "growing with each attempt: €10 million (Dh46.9m) a year, €13m, even €15m according to certain sources" littering Guardiola's last three seasons at Camp Nou. He tells of an invite after the 2011 sacking of Carlo Ancelotti to be picked up by private helicopter and holiday on one of Abramovich's fleet of yachts. ("Stop telling me these things. I don't want to meet Roman or I might have my head turned by him," is Guardiola's response.)

And he catalogues Abramovich's two attempts to land Guardiola earlier this year. The first involved Rafa Benitez taking on a three-month contract as the replacement for Andre Villas-Boas before handing over to Guardiola. Lukaku will be 3rd Striker next season. So we might end up buying 1 out an out striker and 1 who can play in the 3 in Jan if we sell both Torres and Sturridge, and just make do with 2 strikers till the end of the season.

So going off that, assuming Balague is right, or at least the information is correct, it looks as though Pep could well be our manager next season.
