Yeah it’s nice to see an improvement with Cucu. Shame it’s taken nearly 2 years to get to this point tho, and at the expense of two promising academy players.

Cucu playing the same position that poch put him in pre season

Has been good the last few games as well

I don’t rate Poch but think we’re stuck with him for another season so it is what it is. Would like to think we might have better injury luck next season, but losing some more talented academy kids is gonna offset that, so probably another year of being mid table.

The funny thing is that Dortmund sometimes get Maatsen to invert into midfield, and I believe he did so for Burnley last year too. So he actually could have played that role, and isn't very different in stature to Cucurella.

Poch's decisions are just strange.

Spurs have looked fairly crap for a while. All the media Ange cok sucking has died down a lot since earlier in the season too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Difference is Ange showed glimpses of something - maybe he's a one trick pony and that's that and he'll be sacked in six months. Or it's proof with the right players he could do something meaningful.

I can never sympathise with Spurs fans but I can understand their excitement after how dire the football got with Mourinho, Nuno, and Conte.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think the novelty element had a large bearing as very few south of the border knew much about him. He was getting linked with the Liverpool job until fairy recently. It's possible he's been found out a bit as a major complaint about him is that he doesn't have much of a plan b or alternative approach. Time will tell.

Maybe it's down to attitude and in the moment
You can criticise cucu for alot of things but he always looks up for it, most of his mistakes are him being too rash and up for it

I've not got alot of problems with cucu to be honest

Gallagher deeper is a far better option as well
Much more suited to his game

Difficult Enzo conversation coming up

There must have been some kind of fallout or personality clash, otherwise I'm at a loss to explain how Maatsen isn't still here at the club. It's not football reasons surely and it's certainly not his height lol.

These players need stability more than anything right now. Makes sense to maintain the status quo to me, even though longer term we will need a manager upgrade

Levy's decision making on managers has completely gone south since he fired Pochettino. Every decision has been wildly reactive & done with his own PR in mind.

Baring in mind Levy generally prefers freebies & likes a sweet spot balance between respectable CV & decent football - his best option last summer was probably Potter! But of course he can't do that, can't have another Chelsea reject manager even if it makes sense

Does it matter? If he can start performing now its way more valuable than “promising players”

I actually think if you want to improve your chances of these younger players coming good, the best way is to hire a top coach.

Someone who does have a better tactical understanding and is able to impart that onto the players, who then themselves begin to see the game in a different way.

But as always, whether we can trust the owners to find such a person is a crapshoot.

I don't think we're blessed with lots of risk free clear upgrades apart from Tuchel which won't happen.

The others might be better than Poch but also have risks.

Just got back from the Bridge - that was really fun. I thought we looked much the better side, particularly in the first half. But even in the second half, we look very (surprisingly) organized and solid, and Spurs struggled to get through. Of course they had 2 or 3 chances, but they were chasing the game and had to throw men forward.

Special mention to Cucurella, who I have frequently criticized. But I thought he was excellent today, both at left back and in midfield. Our man of the match though was undoubtedly Caicedo - he was immense. He’s really starting to show his value to the team.

Agree blue. Cucurella was my motm. Followed by Connor and caicedo. Everyone played well though bar Jackson

Made a few good passes tbf but his overall game is so poor. Keeps losing the ball in dangerous areas and tries taking on too many players.

I would like to watch a game with a Mudryk advocate just to see which bits excite them about his game, cos to me it's like watching a kid in Sunday league most the time.

Mudryk drove with the ball well at times, made some decent passes and showed good vision but his touch and finishing let him down often

He also faded a bit but so did the rest of the team

We may get a good footballer with Mudryk and Madueke combined into one.

This is a fair summary

And as you said whole team just looked knackered 2nd half.

It's funny that other players made plenty of mistakes yet people hyper focus on Muds.......it's weird. Including shots and when in advanced positions, yet completely ignore the good touches and the chances he made.......was it a good game no, was it as bad as a few like to make out.....also no - is there a footballer in there, I would like to think so, there's been a few flashes and even today we glimpsed a couple, usually unfortunately ending in brain farts
