It's impressive the lengths the owners are going to avoiding saying three magic words that'll get the right guy in before the end of the week

🚨 Kieran McKenna is waiting for Chelsea. He’s received really important proposal from Brighton but he’s waiting for Chelsea. (@FabrizioRomano) #CFC

Lol we played a lot of good football under Poch. We went head to head against the best and came out disappointed not to pick up 3 points.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
People seem to have forgotten the state of us and how we finished last season before Pocn took over.

I need to understand why some people expected him to hit the ground running with a group of players that were in relegation form from Jan23 to end of that season.

I need to understand from those same people why the context of the way the owners assembled the squad, without input from Poch, plus the absurd injuries are not considered.

I neeed to understand what those same people think Poch should have achieved inhis first season with the youngest squad in the PL that has no leaders and no spine.

I need to understand why it is a good thing to lose a coach whose squad of players both liked and respected and improved with

I need to understand why John Terry endorsed Poch's coaching style, if indeed he was crap.

I need to understand that despite top coaches saying it takes at least 18 months to do so, why some people don't think it takes time to mould a new young group of players

I need to understand why the progress of Arsenal hi
Under Arteta does not give those people criticising Poch's first season pause.

I need to understand why a novice, inexperienced and unproven new manager is a step forward?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Amen.

These owners have made a colossal fck up here. Everything was primed for a good season next season with top four very much on the cards. For the first time under this ownership things were finally starting to look hopeful and they've just ripped that all up and flushed it down the toilet.

Didn’t watch the championship but apparently Leicester really struggled 2nd half of the season despite having mostly a PL squad and a fair amount of Leicester fans wanted Maresca sacked.

Might be a decent coach, apparently worked with Lavia and Palmer in City’s youth team, but based on what I’ve read last couple of days do not want him.

McKenna seems the opposite, only read good things about his approach, and he took a league one squad through successive promotions without massive investment. Probably of the 3 people named by Law in the telegraph he would be my preferred choice at this stage.

Thomas Frank would probably be fine too. Brentford play hoofball now in order to survive the prem, but I think they were a fairly dominant championship team under him. Give him better players and he could likely get a tune out of them. Middle of the road for me.

Assuming the 4th unnamed candidate is De Zerbi, because it just makes sense that Brighton’s former Sporting Director rates the coach hired under his watch, even if Bloom lead the selection. I know many on here are sceptical, but personally rate De Zerbi so would he happy with him also.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree with G7. Assuming Maresca and McKenna are our leading candidates, I’d go for McKenna. Maresca came first in the Championship, but with the most expensively assembled squad. McKenna took over Ipswich in the 1st division when they were something like 17th in the league, and got immediate results two years in a row. He sounds like he’s an interesting guy with his own ideas, and he would also be better at communicating with the media than Poch was. Plus my Ipswich supporting friend absolutely loves him which is a good endorsement. Maresca may be good, but he seems like a wanna be but not quite version of Guardiola.

By the way, if you haven’t already seen this you have to watch McKenna being compared to David Brent. It is hilarious:

🗣️ 💎 @SJohnsonSport: “This Chelsea view things differently now. They want to find ‘the diamond in the rough’, like Xabi Alonso, who will be in charge of a squad that has a lot of potential. They want a coach that matures and grows with the squad.”

Arrogant k*nts.

MP has gone someway this season to clearing up the sh*t that they themselves created through their own incompetence in their initial decision making.

Shame because I thought MP looked the most relaxed i've seen him in his pre Forest Presser, the connection with the match day fans was also showing signs of repair from last season.
Yes a lot of frustration during the season at times but in the end a respect for where we find ourselves in prep for next season.

Massive pressure to start the season well and build on where we are, will get toxic very quickly with match day fans and owners if not.

There must be a name for this? It's a common trap people fall into.

You commit to an idea that sounds good without considering how to best utilize your available resources. If you're willing to spend what our owners have done for two years, and you combine this with the appeal we have as a club to players, why are we exclusively looking for untapped potential? Too prove how smart we are? There's advantages we have only a select number of clubs share & we're leaving it on the table for the sake of an idea - it's flawed strategic thinking.

Wenger had this disease the older he got. Would rather succeed with inferior players to his rivals just to prove how good he was but he had excuses at least - paying off the Emirates debt being the main one - we're just doing it because a bunch of guys like the sound of it

🇵🇹 Chelsea have held a long-term interest in Sporting head coach Ruben Amorim but the cost of landing the Portuguese, who has a £12.8million release clause is hefty, particularly given the club are towing a fine line with regards to complying with PSR laws. 🚨 Chelsea have begun the process of conducting formal interviews with the candidates in line to succeed Mauricio Pochettino.

Stamford Bridge directors have reduced their managerial shortlist, with Ipswich’s Kieran McKenna, Leicester’s Enzo Maresca and Brentford’s Thomas Frank still in the frame.

There’s understood to be another name on the club’s list of favoured candidates.

Really? A £4-5M release clause is ok, but a £12.8M clause would break us? We must be closer to the edge than I imagined.

🗣️ @Marcotti: “There is enough suggestion and evidence - I’ve phoned a few people down there - Todd Boehly and the Clearlake duo of Eghbali and Feliciano do not see eye-to-eye.

We have seen Boehly stepping back. They seem to be at odds. There is more financial might with Eghbali and Feliciano. I think Boehly might retain a minority, in the background, sell all or part of his stake.”

I think I’d take McKenna now. The others that are being linked are awful candidates. This is what Chelsea do to you. 🤦‍♀️
