I always used to say that about Joe Cole - that he didn’t realize how bad he was, so he kept playing well. It took him a while to get going, but he forged a really good Chelsea career for himself. I hope Sanchez can do the same.

My guess is Hato would be a LB and CB cover if we sign him

LW looks like Gittens. Hope George gets a loan for his development. If we replace him with a hybrid option I imagine Joao Pedro.

Not keen but as long as it's not Marcus Rashford!

That’s how I saw Joe Cole too. He had incredible natural ability, but not the brain to go along with it. I remember watching a game with the whole midfield in a line - Duff on one wing, Lampard, Essien, Makelele, and they were all pointing to the spot where Joe Cole should have been standing on the right hand side but wasn’t. It was a great example of how well-drilled the side was, and yet Joe Cole still managed to get it wrong. Great player on his day, but not nearly consistent enough. Mostly he flitted in and out of games.

Well, Maresca did say we would be using the whole squad with these games coming thick and fast - so he’ll probably get a chance next game.

He scored for me the most impressive trick goal ever given the CBs he mugged off to score it

Also whether he meant it or not he is on the list for best England tournament goals
