Hodgson may be a good thing for England.

It's pretty obvious they don't have too many world class options up front by Hodgson will make them difficult to beat.

Remember Greece?

What has Chris Sutton got to do to get a call up

posted on 16/5/12

-------------------- Hart

Johnson ---- Terry --- Cahill -------- Cole

Milner ---- Gerrard ---- Barry --- Downing

------------- Carrol ------ Welbeck

Just one option of a team for the first game

Well done Roy, loads of goals in there

How Micah Richards isn't in there I'll never know.
I thought he was a cert because Glen Johnson is hardly an advert for the cautious approach..

I would have...

Richards over Johnston
Ferdinand over Cahill/Lescott
Adam Johnson over Downing
Crouch over Carrol

Would have taken Carrick and another forward most likely Bent

Ach well... Just can't wait for the Euro's to get started! Not long to go now!

From the BBC website:

Harry E. Fellows on Twitter: "Doesnt anyone think Jordan Rhodes fits the bill better than Carroll? Why not take a gamble on the highest scorer in England?"

Who's gonna tell him?

Hooper has limitations but I wouldn't rule out a cap in the future for him if he keeps progressing.

He has scored against Rangers (some cracking finishes too) and scored in the europa last season. IF, big IF, Celtic were to somehow get into the CL groups and he scored in that then why not?

It's not as if England are awash with world class strikers.

I couldn't care less if they get called up, quite happy for them to do well up here and keep away from that mob.

Imagine one of our players goes over there, misses one chance to win a game but Rooney misses 5.... who would get the blame and ultimately never forgive the boy? I'm sure i know who it would be in their eyes.

If they don't think they're good enough then fluck them

dont think he has now either.

forsters a decent keeper, but he's never gonna shift hart or green, as for hooper, goal tally flattered by hearts non interest at weekend, poor with his head and given the choice between him and defoe, absolutely no contest. never been picked for england at any level and never will be.
======================
You may be right, not really bothered if they ever get called up or not to be honest.

In fairness Hart will be keeper for some time unless Butland moves to the EPL and takes it by storm. Green & Ruddy will not get a game bar the odd friendly or injury for the forseeable.

He may take notice if Hooper starts banging them in from the CL qualifiers onwards and grabs a goal a game or something

Defoe is not an international footballer, never produced anything in a big game.

Crouchs goal record looks good unless you look at who he actually scored against.

Bent is terrible Takes him 8 touches to control a ball & about 20 attempts to score.

Sturridge is never an out & out centreforward.

Wellbeck is decent I think.

Holt is 31

Carroll could be a great player, needs to get a run of games to get his confidence up.

Graham needs another season at a decent level to prove if he can cut it or not.

As I say he said he would stick the main squad that helped them qualify - he has to to be fair. Euro finals is not the time to bring in too many new players.
